SEJ says claims LTNs help the climate is 'greenwashing' as Government admits it has no evidence they cut the number of miles driven, and therefore cut climate emissions. Government adds cutting miles driven is not the purpose of LTNs. thetimes.co.uk/article/low-tr…
Nobody responsible for designing these bus stops took any notice of the users of the bus services. These same people are at @TfL and government quango @activetraveleng and are still the main advisers to Government.
When I'm in the bus, the ramp comes down & the doors open, I can't see to my left if a cyclist is approaching, particularly at speed. As gravity draws my #wheelchair down the ramp, I can't stop the momentum. I have no way of knowing or stopping, putting us both in great danger.
If you're going to read one article about transport in London, this is it. Explains why bus speeds are at a record low, why that matters, why general traffic speeds are among the slowest in the world despite the drop in vehicle numbers. Read on! the-londoner.co.uk/feel-like-your…
The recent report from Rachel Aldred's Active Travel Academy found casualties fell in LTNs. But there's a strong argument the focus on LTNs gets in the way of efforts to cut overall casualties. The focus should be on deprived areas.

Why #YorkCentral are we building brand new public realm that has bus stops without shelters ⁉️ The bus stop is the welcome mat to encourage greater bus use we keep hearing, & the hectares of empty space will in time be 2000 car free homes. Makes no sense.
Trams increase choice. Within 2yrs Croydon Tram carried 16m passengers a yr. 20% transferred from cars. Trams work especially well where the population density is not high enough to justify a tube but where trips can take a long time by bus. But UK needs to cut construction costs

We simply made a factual statement that a cycle lane usually takes space from cars in reply to a question. We did not say or imply that therefore no cycle lanes should be built. It was the poisoness @OpenChiswickW4 who chose to interpret in that absurd way.
I think the point to note is the objection to reducing road space available for cars. Mr Stewart used to oppose road building largely because more roads generates more motor traffic. Implication clearly was not just don't build more roads, but cut capacity for cars. And now...
More plans to increase segregation in what is already one of the most traffic segregated boroughs in London. Hackney has published plans for its Dalston LTN. Will ease traffic on some roads at the expense of others. consultation.hackney.gov.uk/streetscene/da…

£1 million in PCNs to be refunded.. southwarknews.co.uk/area/dulwich/l…
The HGVs that have been coming down Dalston Ln over the past couple of yrs & especially now are bigger than the flats most of us live in.👇a sample in past 2 days. Can this be appropriate for a residential rd w/a nursery an primary school on it? @Meg_HillierMP @SarahWoodberryD
We’re told that we can’t have cheap, 'continental-style' zebras (ie without beacons) on our streets because the Scottish Government don’t have the powers…yet there’s one working just fine right outside the Scottish Parliament!
Our opposition to LTNs is well-known. Over the next few days we will tackle some other issues. We back investment in buses across the UK. In London the average speed has fallen to 9mph. Bad for passengers, esp those on low-incomes, bad for the bus industry and bad for the economy

It’s funny how pro LTN journalists pump out LTNs are wanted by residents,,,.. 205 pro LTN supporters out of 388 living inside LTN now represent 8.9 million people outside it….. if you don’t agree with these people representing you then you are a far right conspiracy theorists…
All the charities representing blind people in the Uk and 290 other groups are calling for a halt to more stops like this. Claims about cycle safety don’t cut it - 80% of cycling injuries are at intersections. Very few are associated with bus stops.
Dear @Heidi_Labour,@simonlightwood, @LilianGreenwood,@LordPeterHendy, How can blind people, who can neither see nor hear cycles against the background noise, safely & in comfort cross the bike track at Westminster Bridge bus stop with cycles that mostly won’t slow let alone stop?
For anyone else who’s going to contact their MP about this, here’s the link to a YouTube channel that’s got a ton of videos, clearly showing just how ridiculous and hazardous this design is for pedestrians and bus passengers youtube.com/channel/UCDZjj… (Cheers @NFBUK @VincentStops)

Something has gone wrong in @peterwalker99's Champion Hill LTN, where obesity went up post-implementation. To counter-balance that, in the same LTN KSIs fell by 50%! 🍾🍻 A cyclist fell off their bike there in 2017, which had brought the total to 2, vs a post- casualty in 2022.
Our opposition to LTNs well-known but we had a fair challenge to say more on other things. Today Accessibilty. 40 yrs ago disabled people took direct action to demand accessible buses. London now has one of the world's most accessible fleets. Big progress until floating bus stops

Our oppostion to LTNs is well-known but we had a fair challenge that we say more what we think on other matters. It's on our website, but here goes. First up: Pavements. They should be safe, well-maintained, accessible havens for pedestrians, not invaded by other species.

The pause on floating bus stops by @LordPeterHendy @simonlightwood is for shared use bus borders as shown in the video, where passengers board & alight the bus directly from & into the cycle lane. This pause needs to be made permanent, along with all types of floating bus stops.
Nasty collision on Camberwell New Road. I’ve been warning planners and politicians about this junction for years - would you believe they actually have plans to make it worse by adding a new feeder road behind the New Dewaniam? @sezking78 @mcash
What 'evidence' does London Cycling Campaign need to see that people are avoiding floating bus stops? Who do LCC expect to source this evidence? It's as if LCC are saying "if you can't prove it's unjust we'll continue to make life hell for you!" Same MO being used for LTNs.
