This is what our President who is blind said about the bus stop design where you step off the bus onto a narrow bus boarder next to a cycle lane on Lea Bridge Road, Waltham Forest ‘Not fit for purpose. It really is totally inaccessible. These sorts of designs should be scrapped’

Went back to Park Lane in London. Found part of the cycle lane closed. People observed riding on the pavement, on the floating bus stop island & past people waiting at or on the crossing. @CityWestminster @MetCycleCops @TfL please urgently do something as this is not safe.
.@willnorman @SebDance @MayorofLondon are you going to explain this please?
.@BBCLondonNews @itvlondon @journotommagill @myldn @Londonist @LonTravelWatch @MetroUK Only 3 arms of the South Circular & Brixton Hill Junction have pedestrian crossings shown in the Streatham Hill Scheme plan. What about the 4th arm? @MayorofLondon @TfL content.tfl.gov.uk/a23-streatham-…

It was great spending the day with Coventry's Kings Trust programme, talking about county lines, drug classifications and e scooters. Hope u all enjoyed the day as much as we did.
@TfL why do you ignore this and continue implementing bus stop bypasses when they don’t work
.@simonlightwood Everyone deserves safe, accessible transport. 🤔
‘The tragedy is that visually impaired people are ending up at the bottom of the pile & are designed out of the environment’ Andrews words about a pavement-less bus stop on the new Lea Bridge Road cycle lane in London. @LouHaigh @simonlightwood we need urgent help on this issue.
.@Heidi_Labour @LordPeterHendy @simonlightwood @transportgovuk is this design of floating bus stop paused? As if it is not, it needs to be and it needs to be made permanent. These designs are in contravention of the UNCRPD and they need to be removed please. @UN_Enable

It doesn't work in the Netherlands either. Blind people must raise their stick to indicate they are crossing at a crossing. Cyclists continue through and pull the stick out of the hands of the blind individual. x.com/NFBUK/status/1…
In the Netherlands ‘This is what happens when a blind person wants to cross the road: 'It's absurd' As many as 77 percent of blind & partially sighted people have ended up in an unpleasant situation because someone ignored their white cane when crossing. wnl.tv/2019/10/15/dit…
Not only blind people, anyone with poor sight, confusion issues, walking very slowly and impulsive children!
Co-Chair of Inclusion London, @AdamGabsiLDN said: “These are not PEEPs. They are tick-box exercises that shift responsibility away from those in power.” “This is not what the #Grenfell Inquiry called for, and not what we campaigned for.” buff.ly/blSkUJs
This tragedy is still happening @Heidi_Labour @LordPeterHendy @simonlightwood. These floating bus stops need to be halted too. They are not safe or accessible for blind people. They need to be removed please. Pedestrians & bus users need their pavements & bus stops back please.

.@Heidi_Labour @LordPeterHendy @simonlightwood another floating bus stop that is not safe or accessible for blind people. It needs to be removed please. Pedestrians and bus users need their pavements and bus stops back please. @CamdenCouncil @NewJournal
Routing cycle lanes on the pavement at bus stops has to stop. Floating bus stops / bus stop bypasses are not safe or accessible for blind people. Access has to be from the kerbside without having to cross or step into a cycle lane first. This is in Camden close to St Pancras Int.

Keep posting different designs of floating bus stops & still the same issues. This one is in Mile End in London. @simonlightwood @Heidi_Labour @LordPeterHendy how much longer do blind people have to wait to get their bus services back? Please pause any more floating bus stops.
It’s the speed of those cyclists that get to me…surely they should slow down upon approach to bus stop. 🤷♀️ I thought pedestrians were the priority ?
.@MayorofLondon @SebDance @willnorman @Heidi_Labour @LordPeterHendy @simonlightwood @SteveReedMP @clairekholland Why are 2-way floating bus stops being installed in Streatham Hill Scheme? These will not work for blind people. Why are their access needs being ignored? @AndrewBoff
We need an immediate halt on any more floating bus stops @Keir_Starmer. Blind people are being excluded from catching the bus due to these designs which are still being put in. @NFBUK have no faith in @transportgovuk to tackle this @Heidi_Labour @simonlightwood @LordPeterHendy.
.@MayorofLondon @SebDance @willnorman @Heidi_Labour @LordPeterHendy @simonlightwood these designs have never worked and will not work for blind people. Why have you ignored our concerns? Why are you still rolling them out for? They need to be halted please.

How did anyone believe such a concept to be a good idea?
