Retired Dr Meehan writing in the comments entitled to his opinion but Ex teacher of PAs Understand last time he did an article in Pulse it was established he has a child who is a PA?
Drs do not step in to perform the duties of Nurses/AHPs when they go on strike. Calls for kindness and respect among colleagues often feel like empty preaching. These roles seem designed to sideline drs-yet still expect their unwavering goodwill.
It’s quite clear that the leaders of the GMC (or the GMC itself) have to be replaced No credible way out for them And every PA who has paid for registration (name on a spreadsheet) needs to be refunded, there is not a need for assistants to be registered
You were saying ?
Call them whatever you want. Call them physiciany Mcphysician face for anyone cares. They’ll still the job as per nhs trust and des/arrs contacts.
Assistants shouldn't comment on how their supervisors work.
A PA student hit me with "I am trained in the medical model, like you" once and I gently explained that most doctors are now trained in a biopsychosocial model like Cambridge-Calgary.
RACGP - NHS reins in physician associates Australia now has a chance to reflect on doctor substitution roles in light of the fallout from the PA debacle in the UK. I think they’ll choose quality training over quick poor quality fixes. www1.racgp.org.au/newsgp/profess…
As a major review into #physicianassociate status is launched, a reminder of our story from Jan 24 when we explored the death of Emily Chesterton and asked if PA's were 'doctors on the cheap?' @GoldbergRadio heard from @drmattuk @BylineTimes podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/doc…
No shit Sherlock…yet ‘minor ailments’ could be triaged to a #physicianassociate according to @lengreview Irony …pic @thetimes uses is of Emily Chesterton who was assessed by a PA as having the ‘minor ailment’ of calf pain x2 by PA… …died of a pulmonary embolism. 🤷♂️
Physician associates should be banned from diagnosing and seeing untriaged patients, a govt review has found: thetimes.com/article/19cf84…
It seems that either @UHSFT don’t know the law or are trying to trick doctors out of their right to strike. Any resident doctor in England with BMA membership or no union membership can strike. You do not need to “register” with the BMA. Strike hard.
We were told that all PAs had a bioscience background Yet @CanterburyCCUni were canvasing prospective students telling them a first degree in health or medicine was not required It was the first thing they said when trying to sell the degree Utterly shameful
Will the contract not specify that they must be competent to do the work. And has Leng decided that they are not?
Feeling very let down by scabbing registrars this week. Not striking is bad enough put picking up extra locum nights??? Have some shame pls
No surprises there . Why would anyone want the stress of @UMAPsUK in their lives . Imagine having to fight at every step to implement the Leng guidance . Better to cut their losses. @pa_StephenNash @Melissa_S_Ryan @drmattuk @DrHWazir
On reddit, Partners are saying wheras they were keen to keep their PAs on and work through a Leng compliant job plan on the same salary, some are now saying since this UMAP announcement, they think it will be less stressful to just initiate formal redundancy proceedings.
No apology to the abused children placed at risk by damaging the integrity of their abusers prosecution from any of the organisations responsible @AlderHey @RCPCHtweets No acknowledgement they were wrong. No wonder UMAPs and PAs think they should be allowed to replace doctors
there are now FOI requests about any interaction with @lengreview I am not sure what the strategy actually is.
It's gone on too long. @TheBMA need to so something about all the noctors taking the word consultant. Why can't allied professionals be happy with their choice and their profession? Always need take doctors titles, their white coats, look like them, etc etc.
