If you don't want to strike please see me so I can book a CT scan and help look for your spine
The question everyone needs to ask is whether they would work for free as a doctor, and if they won't, where is the line at which their sense of vocation gives way to financial need. Or should medicine become the domain of those so wealthy they don't need paying?
1/ Kate Matharu, a GP of 25 years, told The Guardian that resident doctors striking “harms patients” and that people who put finances first “shouldn’t be in the profession.” We should talk about why this perspective is deeply flawed.
Strikes could still be avoided if @wesstreeting were to make a credible offer Nothing proposed was sufficient to reverse the erosion of pay or conditions of doctors (conditions he’s called “crap”) There is a reason the @BMAResidents unanimously agreed strikes must go ahead
Health and Social Care Secretary @WesStreeting responds to the BMA confirming Resident Doctor strikes will go ahead on Friday 👇
The gammons have found my other tweet but whatever. Hold the line, strike hard. We can only win this together. Doctors are worth more 🧡🦀
Would also like to say I love my regs ❤️❤️❤️ and I'm not singling them out they're just the only group I've personally heard are scabbing
How about I respect scabs when they respect me by not undermining their colleagues and scabbing
Feeling very let down by scabbing registrars this week. Not striking is bad enough put picking up extra locum nights??? Have some shame pls
This is disingenuous and misleading. This is the scenario: - You have £100 - I take £40 from you - Now you have £60 - I give you £20 back - You now have £80 Is it really unreasonable for you to demand the remaining £20 back over the next few years?! No, it’s not.
BMA strikes are unnecessary and unreasonable. There isn’t a precedent in British trade union history for calling a strike after a 28.9% pay rise - let alone a five day strike. The NHS is hanging by a thread they’re threatening to pull.
Following yesterday’s strike ballot result, we met with @wesstreeting It’s clear: the Government is refusing to negotiate on pay. We are now preparing for a full 5 day walk-out, beginning on Friday 25 July. Our door will always be open to constructive talks. #PayRestoration
The results are in: we have a clear mandate to strike. More than 90% of you who voted in our ballot, voted YES. You’ve made it clear: enough is enough. Our fight for full #PayRestoration for resident doctors in England continues.
It’s happening!! @TheBMA is creating a new register for only doctors! A new register leading the way to a new regulator! Sign up! activism.bma.org.uk/page/172664/pe… #BMAARM25

Me when the fourth person asks if I did the TTO
I did, feel free to share.
This payslip is from 2005. A doctor took home £2,416. In 2025, resident doctors are still taking home roughly the same amount - but everything else has gone up: rent, bills, food, fuel. That’s a 23% real-terms pay cut since 2008. Doctors aren’t asking for a pay rise. They’re…
Just days before our ballot opens, Gov now discloses the pay recommendation – 4% + £750 It’s an insult to those who have fought to restore doctors’ eroded pay and value. Our ballot for resident doctors in England opens on Tuesday. Update your details myaccount.bma.org.uk
A 4% pay uplift, less than current inflation, is an insult to doctors in England. This Government has shown it simply doesn’t value doctors. “The DDRB has failed doctors. If this is the best they can do, government needs to think again.” says @DrPhilBanfield This ‘award’…
⏳ 8 days until the ballot opens ⏳ £17 an hour. That's what doctors are valued at in England. £17/hr after 5 years of training. £17/hr with £100,000 of student debt. £17/hr to save your life. £23/hr is what we need to restore our pay. #DoctorsStrike #PayRestoration
The fight for fair pay is back on. We did it last year, we can do it again 📢 Our ballot for industrial action will open on 27 May. Update your details here and get ballot ready myaccount.bma.org.uk Doctors, know your worth!
🚨 BREAKING: Resident doctors in England have re-entered a pay dispute with the Government. Why? Because progress is being stonewalled by the continued delay in the publication of the DDRB's pay recommendations. Trust must be rebuilt. Publish the DDRB now bma.org.uk/residentspay
