Due to personal commitments including surgical exams, I will sadly not be seeking re-election onto the UKRDC. I've dedicated my life to the BMA over the past two years and unfortunately over the next year I won't have the capacity to do the role justice. 1/6
It's your LAST CHANCE to represent your colleagues by standing for election to your local RJDC. #VoteRJDC Nominations close tomorrow. elections.bma.org.uk
I’m supporting @TheBMA Because trying to fix the NHS without improving pay & conditions for health/social care workers is like trying to refill a bath without the plug Recruitment, retention, burnout - this is the crisis Resident doctors deserve better. So does every patient
Thats nonsense. Campaign is squarely about pay. Zero political element to it. We would be striking with a labour govenrment, a Tory one, a Reform one, a Green one, a Mickey Mouse one, anyone who came into power if our pay was still 21% behind
We can't afford to lose doctors. @RachelReevesMP, the chancellor, said last year that resolving the doctor pay dispute is "a drop in the ocean" for the government. Paying doctors 22.67£/hr to keep them here is a no brainer.
Doctors are fleeing the NHS. Every year, 20 000 doctors are leaving the profession prematurely - many because their pay no longer reflects the weight of the job. The real question isn’t whether we can afford to pay doctors. It’s whether we can afford the cost of losing them.
Doctors are there in our most critical moments. They care. They heal. They don’t strike lightly. Junior doctors are asking for just £4 more an hour — many carry £100k+ in debt. The govt must negotiate in good faith with @TheBMA. Solidarity with striking doctors. #DoctorsStrike
Northern doctors sent a clear message today that no doctor is worth less than a doctor in 2008 The power to end these strikes lies squarely with @wesstreeting - he must make a meaningful offer to reverse our pay erosion and continue the journey to fair pay #DoctorsStrike
Well this is awkward. Hypocrites attack Hippocrates. #LabourInNameOnly
Keir Starmer: Resident doctors should break ranks with the BMA leadership. The industrial action that starts on Friday is in no one’s interests and medics should not follow their union down its dangerous and destructive route, he says. thetimes.com/article/3fdcd5…
Solidarity with the BMA. The last thing they're doing is "undermining the Trade Union movement". They're resisting a race to the bottom. theguardian.com/society/2025/j…
NEW: @wesstreeting has been slammed by several trade union general secretaries after claiming doctors' strikes undermine the trade union movement. 'Don't question the mandate of the doctors when your own constituents came within a whisker of removing you.'
Utterly disgraceful remarks from @wesstreeting These doctors are the backbone of our NHS Their real pay is down 20% compared to 2008 It's time they were treated with the respect and dignity they deserve
The sad irony being that full pay restoration for resident doctors would cost less than this. At just £1.3bn approx if you did it overnight. And to be clear, @BMAResidents aren’t even asking for it overnight. They’re happy to negotiate a journey via a multiyear deal. #WinWin

📣 Five days of strike action starts today. These strikes could have been averted, if @Wesstreeting had a credible offer for us to consider. ✊ Find your nearest picket: bma.org.uk/rdpicketlines Stick Together. Strike Together. Win Together.
“When (Resident) doctors can see that they are being paid significantly less and being treated significantly worst than they used to be, then something has to give.” Tonight @RossNieuwoudt spoke to @LBC ahead of strike action across England this week👇 #PayRestoration
Wes Streeting is copying the same failed Tory playbook - and doctors see right through it. No offer on pay. No plan to move fully qualified doctors from £18.62/hr to £22.67/hr, even over time. Vague “non pay elements” that mean nothing. Student loan forgiveness wasn’t even on…
Doctors deserve full pay restoration. Last year Labour offered a 4.25% uplift on the previous Tory offer. This was accepted as part of a pathway to restoration. Now Labour employ the same tactics as the Tories did to try and demonise doctors. It ain't gonna work. Solidarity ✊
This is blatantly unsafe. Our strikes have senior doctors covering emergency care. They cannot also cover elective lists. Impossible to be in two places at once. @NHSEngland will put patients at risk with this approach. All trusts must cancel elective activity to avoid harm.
🚨 NHS England boss Sir Jim Mackey ordered hospital leaders to take a tougher line with the BMA ahead of strikes next week. He said: "We all tolerated levels of harm and risk last time that I really just don’t think we should anymore." With @HarryYorke1 thetimes.com/article/5a052f…
There’s talk that @wesstreeting is looking at student loan forgiveness instead of pay restoration for Resident Doctors Let’s set aside arguments about fairness and consider what each option could mean in raw financial terms vs the 5.4% offer this year for Doctors earnings
An English Resident Doctor agreement built on a Student Loan based deal, will be a deal they live to regret.
Consultants in England, we want to restore pay, pensions and value. Are you ready to fight for what we have lost? Vote YES now bma.org.uk/consultantspay
🚨London Doctors🚨 Did you know your London Weighting has been left behind compared to NHS colleagues and other public sector workers? How far behind, you ask? Take a look!👇🏼 Your @BMALondon will be launching our campaign to tackle this very soon!✊🏼 Watch this space! 👀
Tomorrow, we meet with @wesstreeting All we're asking for is a clear path to #PayRestoration Industrial action is our last resort. There's still time for the Government to do what's right and avert these strikes before it's too late. bma.org.uk/our-campaigns/…
NURSES: This is how much you subsidise the NHS, and if you don’t act now, they’ll take even more. Doctors are with you. #JoinStrikeWin
