No doctor working today is worth 21% less than in 2008. A first year doctor working through the night to give life saving treatment to all our loved ones is worth more than £18.62/hour All we are asking is they are paid £22.67/ hour. It’s a bargain @LidlGB @wesstreeting

Astonishing that not a single Health minister was prepared to go on @BBCr4today to explain their abysmal failure to avert junior doctors’ strikes. Rishi Sunak says he “wouldn’t want to get in the middle of” NHS pay disputes. Patients are suffering as a result of his cowardice.
This hasn’t aged particularly well has it? Come on @wesstreeting let’s talk and end this dispute !
It’s simply outrageous that neither the Prime Minister nor the Health Secretary are willing to sit down with doctors to avert next week’s industrial action. Doctors don’t want it, patients don’t want it, why won’t the Prime Minister act to prevent it?
I was at the London picket today. @wesstreeting was nowhere to be seen. While doctors showed up in strength, he was nowhere to be found; refusing to acknowledge that moving a doctor from £18.62/hr to £22.67/hr over time is entirely reasonable. He wasn’t there to answer why…
Lovely contingent from Chichester who came down to Brighton @UHSussex for our picket today! @wesstreeting we are united These @BMAResidents are not worth 21% less than they would have been in 2008 ❌ #fullpayrestoration
A fantastic turnout at the @GSTTnhs picket today. Doctors came out in strength and made sure they were heard all the way in Westminster by @wesstreeting. No dr wants to strike. But we’ve been forced into this position by a Government that refuses to value and retain NHS staff.
And the award for cutest picketer goes to Scarlett at @UHSussex @BMAResidents #FullPayRestoration How can you say no to this @wesstreeting ?

Come on @wesstreeting , let’s talk ☕️ @BMAResidents #FullPayRestoration
Great to see such a fantastic turnout for our picket at @UHSussex . No doctor here is worth 21% less than they were in 2008 ❌ @wesstreeting it’s time to end this, make us a credible offer to restore our pay
Come on @wesstreeting , you know we are worth it. We are ready to talk about pay, come meet us
This is why Resident doctors in England are taking a stand against the Government - it’s time to pay us what we're worth. Support us on the picket lines 📢 25 to 30 July #PayRestoration #DoctorsStrike bma.org.uk/residentspay

Now we know why @wesstreeting refuses to negotiate with NHS staff. He wants the strikes to go ahead, so he can blame doctors and nurses for his failure.

This you lad? @wesstreeting

This is the status quo Mr Streeting is defending and argues is perfectly reasonable. 👇🏼 The assistant to the doctor earns 46.4% more than the doctor in London. Make it make sense. 🤷🏻♂️
"We did not need to be in this position. These strikes were unnecessary." @WesStreeting explains why 👇 Watch his message to NHS staff continuing to work during strikes.
Labour voters are behind doctors in this dispute. A credible pathway to full pay restoration is all that is needed to avert industrial action.
Wow- this has been what we have been arguing for for the last couple of years, placing patient safety first. There is no place for individuals with no medical training (PAs) to be seeing unselected, acutely unwell patients, or delivering medical advice for on call quarternary…
Physician associates who assist doctors in GP surgeries and hospitals will now be known as assistants. Health Secretary Wes Streeting says this "better describes the role that they do". Read more ➡️ trib.al/aKsx2Nx
Physician Associates are being renamed to Physician Assistants because the public was confused about their role. But here’s what’s truly confusing: A physician assistant now starts on a salary that’s nearly £10,000 more than a fully qualified doctor. Read that again. Doctors…
What these past few days on social media have reminded me is how misunderstood the work of a doctor really is. We work long hours, often under immense pressure. We make complex, high-stakes decisions every single day. We train for years; sacrificing time, energy, and financial…
Without our Doctors this system will crumble. In 2019 I had a 56 hour labour, emergency C-section, post partum haemorrhage and my baby was resuscitated. My mother has been sectioned multiple times throughout my life, and spent time in ICU after a huge OD that nearly took her…
No money to raise doctors from £18.62/hr to £22.67/hr over some years, according to @wesstreeting. But £1,300,000,000 can be found for management consultants across Government? It’s time the Government showed the same urgency for NHS staff as it does for outsourcing contracts.
To become a doctor you need to: - Be top of the pack academically, - Gain entry to competitive and longer than average degree - Work far more hours than National average - Complete ~5-10 years postgrad training The public does not want, nor have average doctors.
The media love to vilify Doctors - ultimately because many of the British public despise us. They banged pans when we risked our lives during the pandemic. Yet when it comes to T&Cs, our salaries are compared to the UK average 🤦🏻♂️ The public will get the NHS they deserve!
