While @wesstreeting tries to turn the public against doctors, people see through the spin. Resident drs save lives, perform CPR, make critical decisions - all for £18.62/hr. They’re asking for £22.67/hr, and not even in one go. Time to negotiate Wes. express.co.uk/news/politics/…
At £22.67/hr it would still be less than they pay their assistants.
What game is Wes Streeting playing ? It sounds different to the one he had in opposition.
Wes Streeting is copying the same failed Tory playbook - and doctors see right through it. No offer on pay. No plan to move fully qualified doctors from £18.62/hr to £22.67/hr, even over time. Vague “non pay elements” that mean nothing. Student loan forgiveness wasn’t even on…

I've been quick to judge Unions taking strike action in the past but I fully support resident Doctors taking action. For the stress and life changing decisions they make day in day out, even £22.67ph seems like a bargain to be quite honest.
A few key points for me here Failing to deliver on last years reforms DDRB late and inadequate Student loans too expensive (yes we’ve realised that) BMA have been very clear all year what constitutes a fair offer Seems justifiable to re-enter dispute
Wes Streeting has failed to put forward a credible offer to doctors. He refused to negotiate on pay. He proposed vague non pay elements with no timelines, no guarantees, and no accountability. Despite leaked media briefings, student loan forgiveness was never on the table. He…
Doctors deserve full pay restoration. Last year Labour offered a 4.25% uplift on the previous Tory offer. This was accepted as part of a pathway to restoration. Now Labour employ the same tactics as the Tories did to try and demonise doctors. It ain't gonna work. Solidarity ✊
Disgusting for @wesstreeting to state that doctors show disdain for patients when his Government alone has the power to resource the NHS appropriately but chooses not to It’s his ‘reform’ read dismantling of the NHS that shows complete disdain for NHS patients and democracy

I wish there was this much enthusiasm to solve the gross understaffing that happens in the NHS every single non-strike day

Tell us something new, @wesstreeting. You admit that Resident Doctors’ working conditions are poor, yet you’re using that as a bargaining chip. Doctors have been clear, they want pay restoration. You still can’t commit to a timeline for achieving that. You’d lose nothing, and…
Suggesting that doctors have a complete disdain for patients is a bold statement. The public see right through this Labour government. Elected on a mandate of change, only to bring more of the same.

This is absolutely shocking. There were no resident strikes tonight. What’s the excuse @wesstreeting?

We work in this. We do our best. We struggle in a broken system. Our health secretary tells us we have disdain for our patients. How about you invest into fixing our national health service rather than vilifying doctors @wesstreeting.

I’m sad to hear this, but I understand the Drs. I hope doctors get improved working conditions and pay. x
So Wes has; 🔸Failed to deliver last year’s deal 🔹Refused to talk with RDC since May 🔸Pretended RDC didn’t want to talk 🔹Agreed to talk but not on pay 🔸Now wants strikes called off to talk having offered absolutely nothing?! Meet the new boss, he’s just like the old boss.
At today's RDC meeting, we’ve voted to go ahead with strike action. Last week when we met @wesstreeting we were open to finding solutions to restore pay and improve working conditions. Today, we still do not have a credible offer on the table @Melissa_S_Ryan @RossNieuwoudt

The issue is - why does the NHS not have the best conditions to work in, to attract the best talent, irrespective of role. To negotiate “better conditions” as a ploy to call off strikes shows how far gone we actually are. What an utter embarrassment for @wesstreeting shocking.
