I'm just here to read
It was @BMAResidents who invited Mr Streeting to talks months ago👇🏼 He ignored them Once doctors voted for strikes, he attacked them Now he’s pretending he wanted talks all along HMG and media spin machine is full tilt against doctors right now Doctors; stick together✊🏼
The Health Secretary Wes Streeting says he's 'pleased' the BMA have agreed to his offer of talks to try and avert strike action. 'If strikes go ahead everyone loses: Doctors lose, the NHS loses, patients lose, and the public loses,' said Streeting.
And this is why the pension argument is absurd. #FullPayRestoration
REMINDER: Have tweeted a lot about this previously. But when PAY is DOWN, PENSION linked to that pay is also DOWN. So you *cant* fix this by robbing Peter (pension) to pay Paul (pay). You are both Peter and Paul so you cant rob your future self to fund pay rises. *Not* fair
Always free to consider a reasonable offer 🫡 (Unless I'm operating, in which case you might need to wait an hour or so) #FullPayRestoration
“Our committee is on standby to consider any credible proposals you make.” Co-chairs @Melissa_S_Ryan and @RossNieuwoudt have written to @wesstreeting saying there is still time to present a credible offer and call off the strike.
This is what people struggle to understand when we say we are still 20.9% behind our 2008 pay.
This is disingenuous and misleading. This is the scenario: - You have £100 - I take £40 from you - Now you have £60 - I give you £20 back - You now have £80 Is it really unreasonable for you to demand the remaining £20 back over the next few years?! No, it’s not.
Meeting the entire committee is a distraction. We don't need or want to meet in a crowded room. That would be like us asking to negotiate with the entire government rather than Mr Streeting and DHSC staff. @wesstreeting doesn't want to talk. He wants to whinge. @DoctorsVoteUK

I KNEW it. (It was me, probably.)
DV also goes around at night unplugging all the computers on wheels at work. That's why there's never a fully charged one in the morning.
For when the inevitable bullying emails come. No, you don't have to tell your trust if you're planning to strike or not: it is up to them to arrange adequate cover for all shifts. I suggest they ask our trusted senior colleagues, who will keep our patients safe. #doctorstrike
Why is your workforce team sending incorrect information @CCCNHS? Doctors are not obliged to inform employers if they are striking. It's not mandatory either (no amount of bolding will help you here). Residents, keep your eyes peeled for other Trusts doing the same.
1000 places will hardly scratch the surface. How about promising another 10k training places, as an actual investment in the future of the NHS? #PatientsDeserveDoctors
1000 new places will not fix the training bottlenecks. UK graduate prioritisation with protections for current IMGs is a start. But only if it applies now. Without any timeline, this is just lip service. Disappointing indeed. We expect @wesstreeting and his team to do better
Vote. Post. Win. #DoctorsVoteYes

Feline Pay Restoration Meow! #DoctorsVoteYes
Pepsi knows that the strike ballot is key to getting FPR (Feline Pay Restoration). Be like Pepsi: send your ballot back ASAP! 🐈⬛📝 Monday's the last day for residents in England to post it back to be sure of being included in the vote; don't leave it to the last minute... 📨⏩📮
It's essential we get a strong ballot mandate so that we can negotiate with the government. #DoctorsVoteYes #FullPayRestoration
We need each and every resident doctor member to return their ballot. I’ve been chasing up at my hospital. There’s some who forgot. Talk to your colleagues today. Check they’ve voted. Show them the postbox in your hospital. We can’t be complacent. Vote yes today.
It really seems like the government should actually try to avoid strikes then. Only one proven way: negotiate. #FullPayRestoration
Then why won't Streeting get around the negotiating table? It's been over a month, and not a word from the health secretary about taking any real steps to avoid strikes.
Gives "Old man yells at clouds" vibes. Tuition fees, student debt, no guaranteed jobs, doctor replacement, rotational training, gradual collapse of the NHS, pandemic, and the worst pay erosion of any profession for over 15 years. Don't let the next generation down. Vote YES.
Hey Siri, define ladder pullers. DBEs, CBEs, OBEs, Profs, a former RCGP president. They all benefited from the golden age of the profession and want you to accept the dregs. Vote YES to strike. A thread. 1/n
YES WE CAN! #VoteStrikeWin #FullPayRestoration
A message to resident doctors from the 44th President of the United States of America, President Barack Obama. #JoinStrikeWin
The real opportunity comes from voting YES in the ballot. #FullPayRestoration #DoctorsVoteYes
❌ Doctors pay? Lower than their assistants. ❌ Doctors conditions? We're still sitting on bins. ❌ Doctors opportunities? Thousands of doctors will be unemployed whilst you wait longer than ever to see one. Get around the negotiating table and avoid strikes @wesstreeting
Our pay has been cut by 23% in real terms since 2008. The Government paid us with claps during COVID. Now is the time to send a loud message: 👏🏻 Claps don’t pay the bills. 👏🏻 ✅ Vote YES. 💌 Post it back. 💪 Stand together. 📨 Missing your ballot? linktr.ee/doctorsvote
The hype is real. More ballot pics please. #DoctorsVoteYes ##FullPayRestoration
