One would hope under new plans for the regulation of NHS managers, these liars from @UHSFT would be struck off either for incompetence or probity concerns. @wesstreeting not doing much to stop the “crap treatment” of doctors by the NHS.
It seems that either @UHSFT don’t know the law or are trying to trick doctors out of their right to strike. Any resident doctor in England with BMA membership or no union membership can strike. You do not need to “register” with the BMA. Strike hard.
Thanks for getting back to us.
Hi Dr Palazzo I have just DM’d you as there isn’t a blanket refusal of annual leave at the Trust. Unfortunately the reply to Dr Patel’s email was delayed until I could understand the issues being raised.
1. Demanding a high level of public services free at the point of use 2. Refusing to pay for it
What's one thing that's normal in the UK but weird everywhere else?
Misleading, not all delivered by Lab and not real terms rise 28.9% = gross 23,24,25 pay 22.2% in 23-24 5.4% in 25 Of 22% in 23-24, we already -had 8.8% -were recommended further 8% cumulative 17.5% Lab only proactively put forward 4.05% in negs 2025 pay rec from DDRB 🧵 1/x
We negotiated and delivered pay rises worth 28.9%. This year’s pay award was the highest in the entire public sector. We cannot afford to re-open that pay award. I have offered talks without any preconditions. The BMA is refusing. Unreasonable. Unnecessary.
“The power to stop these strikes lies squarely with the Government and the Secretary of State” - Wes Streeting, when it wasn't him as health secretary.
Meeting the entire committee is a distraction. We don't need or want to meet in a crowded room. That would be like us asking to negotiate with the entire government rather than Mr Streeting and DHSC staff. @wesstreeting doesn't want to talk. He wants to whinge. @DoctorsVoteUK
Parliamentary assistant salary £ 30-37k @wesstreeting salary £161,409 Doctor salary £38,831 for 40 hour week Their assistant: £ 46-52k for 37.5 hours Who is the unreasonable one? @BMAResidents @DoctorsVoteUK
Hey @wesstreeting , Are you paid more than your assistant, or less? Asking for 55,000 friends. @BMAResidents @DoctorsVoteUK

Stop. Lying. This will not make us trust you. Why would you meet all 60+ members of @BMAResidents just to spout the same hot air This is like us demanding to negotiate with the entire House of Commons. You can speak to our chairs. That’s their job. @wesstreeting
The BMA Resident Doctors Committee still refuses to meet me. After a 28.9% pay rise, they say another 29% is “non-negotiable.” This is not the way a reasonable trade union behaves.
Most People didn’t vote for a Labour government. Want to play silly kids with stats? Only 20% of eligible voters voted for Labour in 2024. By your own logic you don’t deserve to be in government. Grow up, come and talk. @wesstreeting @DoctorsVoteUK @BMAResidents
Decisions I have taken mean that Resident Doctors have had a 28.9% pay increase covering the last three years. These are not grounds for strike action. And most BMA resident doctors didn’t vote to strike. I will be meeting the BMA today.
🗳️ Final days. Strike ballot closes MONDAY. If you haven't posted your vote, do it TODAY. No turnout = no strike = govt erodes our pay, contracts, future Don’t be the reason we lose. 🗳️ Vote. Seal. Post it NOW. 🦀 #DoctorsVote #DoctorsStrike #DoctorsWin #VoteStrikeWin
The future of the profession depends on you sending your ballot back today. If we fail the 50% threshold it will mean another generation of pay and contract erosion. The last safe date to return your ballot is Monday 30th June. Don't delay. Vote today.
Doctors, Vote. It is Vitally important that how ever you vote, that you do so. It’s the only way that the democratic process can be carried out with true fidelity. I need it so I know how to represent you. Vote4Democracy Vote4Respect Vote4FPR Vote4Training @BMAResidents
So you refused to discuss our pay with us @wesstreeting and then you pretended to the media that you’re willing to discuss anytime? Remind me why no one trusts politicians?
“We’re going to have to work together and negotiate on pay… Getting to fair pay is a journey not an event, and I am willing to negotiate on pay and those wider conditions” This you @wesstreeting ? We’re still waiting for you to talk to us. Your avoidance is getting old now
A very important message that all doctors should watch. Everyone was surprised about the one weird trick to improve your pay.
A message to resident doctors from the 44th President of the United States of America, President Barack Obama. #JoinStrikeWin
Our pay has been cut by 23% in real terms since 2008. The Government paid us with claps during COVID. Now is the time to send a loud message: 👏🏻 Claps don’t pay the bills. 👏🏻 ✅ Vote YES. 💌 Post it back. 💪 Stand together. 📨 Missing your ballot? linktr.ee/doctorsvote
"You knew what you signed up for" "You knew the pay when you applied" These statements are categorically false. The social contract has been broken. When we applied, pay had not been fully eroded. When we applied, job security was intact. We are balloting because all the…
My cohort started studying medicine in 2018/19. Back then employment and career progression was mostly guaranteed. It is now 2025 and we are finishing our F2 year, many of us are looking at unemployment. "You knew what you signed up for" We are victims of a broken system.
A sound track for the EarPods when you’re walking to the postbox to post your ballots back. 🧵 Track 1: (crab rave vs Steeeting)
Why would we want to meet you if you’re not willing to talk? I attend enough lectures as it is thanks. I’ll listen to a sensible and realistic path to FPR, but I don’t have time for another of your pre-prepared speeches telling me what’s in my interests like I’m a child.
Reality: I met twice with Resident Doctors in May and at the last meeting I offered to meet their entire committee. I can’t offer a higher pay increase: resident doctors have the highest pay award in the entire public sector. These are not grounds that warrant strike action.
Some logic at last. It made no sense investing so much money in training doctors only then to push them out of the country or leave them unemployed, and replace them with those trained elsewhere.
This is something to cautiously celebrate. RDC has worked hard to lobby NHSE and the government to implement our policy for UKGraduate Prioritisation with protections for all IMGs currently in the country I will continue fighting for our members' right to access training.
