Pleased with the DM article that accurately sums up some of the values I live my life by (albeit they used some unkind words to do so), plus they chose a flattering photo. Anyone feeling solidarity with me is very welcome to donate to the Strike Fund too! bmastrikefund.raisely.com

Honoured to be at the @officialblsa Barts and The London Rites of Passage ceremony 2025 tonight - St Paul’s provides a magnificent backdrop for this key moment in the careers of these new doctors. 🖤🤍

We've written to NHS England with concerns about inadequate planning ahead of possible strike action later this week. Attempts to run non-urgent services with fewer doctors risk patient safety. It's imperative that Trusts postpone work to protect urgent and emergency care.
Consultants and SAS doctors in England - look out for your indicative ballot email from @TheBMA today! Wes Streeting called pay restoration "a journey, not an event" - so why have we stopped? Are you prepared to stand up to demand your value is recognised by the government?

But the @TheBMA & @thomasdolphin said: "The BMA urges NHSE to reconsider its current instructions to hospitals, which should instead be preparing to postpone non-urgent planned activity ahead of next week’s strikes, to ensure a safe service that matches levels of staff available"
Felix did his famous "dive from the edge of space" on the same day I did my first skydive; I remember watching it live that evening in awe at his skill and thinking I'd done from a mere 13k feet what he'd done from the top of the stratosphere. BSBD. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

“The trouble is the review… avoids the difficult question of how you set that scope, that limit of what PAs can do.” Responding to the Leng Review, BMA council chair @thomasdolphin has spoken to the BBC about doctors’ concerns over patient safety
As the NHS faces one of the most turbulent periods of its history, the BMA's new chair @thomasdolphin speaks to The BMJ's @rebeccacoombes about his vision and priorities and whether the association will change direction bmj.com/content/390/bm… youtube.com/watch?v=zSeWEw…
A long week that started with difficult memories and ended with possible hope of movement on the resident doctors' dispute in England
Sick of being called ‘greedy’, Brown line is consultants, way below the zero line, the blue line is average workers, back above zero. Average pay has climbed at about equal rates over last 3 years but consultant pay still nearly 20% down graph (CPI). There’s full tax restoration,…
The BMA Resident Doctors Committee still refuses to meet me. After a 28.9% pay rise, they say another 29% is “non-negotiable.” This is not the way a reasonable trade union behaves.
This is disingenuous and misleading. This is the scenario: - You have £100 - I take £40 from you - Now you have £60 - I give you £20 back - You now have £80 Is it really unreasonable for you to demand the remaining £20 back over the next few years?! No, it’s not.
BMA strikes are unnecessary and unreasonable. There isn’t a precedent in British trade union history for calling a strike after a 28.9% pay rise - let alone a five day strike. The NHS is hanging by a thread they’re threatening to pull.
Regttable to lose any member. Very regrettable that an 84yo who did not suffer pay erosion and retired on a golden pension should choose to leave over action to protect the future viability of his profession. @TheBMA @BMAResidents shorturl.at/VaGkn
Are you a resident thinking about taking a locum shift on a strike day? Why risk actively undermining the strike, when you could just wait for your back pay from Wes’ pay award (such as it is) to arrive in August? 😇

“Our committee is on standby to consider any credible proposals you make.” Co-chairs @Melissa_S_Ryan and @RossNieuwoudt have written to @wesstreeting saying there is still time to present a credible offer and call off the strike.
‘Uncertainty, anxiety and unnecessary stress’ @TheBMA council chair @thomasdolphin has called on the Government to rethink plans to tighten immigration laws warning that current proposals unfairly impact international medical graduates. thedoctor.bma.org.uk/articles/life-…
No doctor today is worth less than they were 17 years ago, as @Melissa_S_Ryan has told Newsnight. That’s why resident doctors in England have voted for industrial action. There’s still time for the Government to listen and avert the strikes.
