sharing this again because a few friends have asked why/how I use a spreadsheet for keeping track of papers I'm reading
here's the one for animal studies - these papers can get much more complex so breaking it down into behavioral findings vs neurobiological findings helps keep it organized. also keeping in mind species (mouse vs rat; diff strains of rat) and sex differences also helps 2/4

Adderall is amphetamine. There are not huge differences in the effects of methamphetamine and amphetamine. Dose is an issue. The mixed salts and isomers in Adderall are a minor issue, likely irrelevant. The main issue would be the dose. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adderall
#Fake #Methamphetamine #Pills! Pills just like these have been involved in recent #overdose deaths in San Diego. These pills look like real #Adderall pills but are pure methamphetamine. One Pill Can Kill and One Conversation Can Save a Life. DEA.gov/onepill #OPCK
This is HUGE! When you sign a lease in Boston, you were expected to pay 4x rent -first month, last month, security deposit and broker fee. I even moved within my building and they made me a brokers fee
Governor Maura Healey has signed a proposal in the Fiscal Year 2026 budget to eliminate renter-paid broker’s fees. The proposal requires the fee to be paid by whoever hires the broker, which is usually the landlord.
still waiting for someone to tell me how we model substance use disorders and PTSD without animal models
NIH’s 2025 policy on animal testing grants worries neuroscientists. Organoids & in silico models can’t yet replicate glymphatic systems for brain implants or complex vision circuits. Strict animal model justifications may delay funding & discoveries. #Neuroscience #NIH
Assuming similar lab size and personnel compositions at NSF vs NIH-supported research, it would make the planned NIH cut lead to the layoff of roughly ~930,000 people ($5 vs. $20 billion cut). The repercussions will set back NIH's scientific advancement by decades.
The US government is aiming to get rid of a quarter million people involved in science research and education by 2026. I have no words.
The NIH has proposed making all Institute Directors political appointees which would inject politics into scientific decisions & bring instability to scientific leadership. Please object by clicking on the green “public comment” button at the top: federalregister.gov/documents/20... .
It is beyond disturbing when the NIH and HHS Directors do not understand that animal models are essential in research statnews.com/2025/05/19/ani…
If anyone who had a grant terminated (at Harvard or elsewhere) wants to partner with my scicomm channel (LetTheDataSpeak across platforms), I want to work w you. I’ll ft. an elevator pitch of your exciting science, then end w “this project was terminated” & a call to action.
i'm just a senior postdoc, standing in front of a career that i have worked really hard for, asking higher education in the united states to not completely implode in front of my eyes before i even get a chance to say the words 'my lab studies'
New leaked document shows HHS wants to merge NIAAA, NIDA, and NIMH into a new "National Institute on Behavioral Health." No budget has been proposed yet, but with a potential 40% cut to NIH and no dedicated addiction institute or director, addiction research is at serious risk…

people are being disappeared but we still gotta do the laundry. our most sensitive personal info is being compromised but the trash needs to be taken out. people’s identity documents are being seized but it’s time to go get groceries.
