Immuno/Synth Bio/ML. PI @PennMedicine/@parkerici. Using DNA synth, multiplex assays & generative models to understand & engineer immune cells. @geochurch alum.
Why test #celltherapies one-by-one when you can use multiplexed #SynBio, #proteinengineering & #ML to design, measure & track them at scale? The Goodman Lab @PennMedicine opens July 2025. We’re hiring Specialists & Postdocs! Apply @ bit.ly/42BnJNJ RTs appreciated!🙏

nature.com/articles/s4158… Wow! 1,700 transgenic mice for the most comprehensive enhancer characterization ever. Leo and Axel never cease to amaze!
Excited to join @nalidoust and @tfmiller3 on stage next week at @decodingbio and @NYSE’s AIxBio Summit! AI and novel data are reshaping biotech in big ways - can’t wait to dig into the details. See you in NYC! 🧬🚀
Our CTO @LindaBGoodman will be speaking at the @NYSE Decoding Bio AI x BIO Summit next Tuesday in New York. Hope to see you all there! 🧬🧬
New video on the details of diffusion models: youtu.be/iv-5mZ_9CPY Produced by @welchlabs, this is the first in a small series of 3b1b this summer. I enjoyed providing editorial feedback throughout the last several months, and couldn't be happier with the result.
I am a strong believer that depth of data can be just as powerful as scale of data. Deep analysis of small groups of humans, and even individuals, can lead to novel biological insights and principles. Today I am the guinea pig. In my own blood, @CalebLareau finds strong evidence…
🤯Three (!!!) new papers today in @ScienceMagazine on the application of generative AI for the de novo design of peptide/HLA binding molecules! Completely unique 3D structure and binding mode compared with natural TCRs and TCR mimics! Links to papers 👇
T cells do the heavy lifting when it comes to the anti-tumor action of checkpoint immunotherapy. But do antibodies play a role too? That’s the question @yile_dai looked to answer in his thesis work, out today in @Nature! 🧵below nature.com/articles/s4158…
🚨Today, in @NatureCancer, we show that CAR-T cells and CAR-NK cells contain the seeds of their own self-destruction. Disruption of a FAS-L/FAS circuit enhances CAR potency against liquid and solid cancers. rdcu.be/exjEy @MSKCancerCenter @parkerici @MSK_DeptOfMed

reprogramming cells with transcription factors is our most expressive tool for engineering cell state traditionally, we found TFs by ~guesswork @icmlconf we're sharing @newlimit's SOTA AI models that can design reprogramming payloads by building on molecular foundation models
Alcohol use reduces the efficacy of anti-PD1 immunotherapy by disrupting anti-tumor immunity Paper starts from an interesting observation
Just saw the phrase "Big Token" to describe OAI/Anthropic/GDM/xAI/Meta and now I can't stop thinking about it.
Plasmidsaurus is wild. 10 labs. 4 countries. Profitable from day one. Customers were stunned by their overnight turnaround time. So what did they do? Rolled out same-day. Hear the story in Happy Warriors, our new video series.
Introducing Happy Warriors -- stories of founders building what civilization needs. Episode 1 is here, featuring @Plasmidsaurus, the startup quietly speeding up biology worldwide.
Wrapped up Stanford CS336 (Language Models from Scratch), taught with an amazing team @tatsu_hashimoto @marcelroed @neilbband @rckpudi. Researchers are becoming detached from the technical details of how LMs work. In CS336, we try to fix that by having students build everything:
The Programmable Biology Group is en route to Vancouver for #ICML2025!! 🇨🇦🗻 Please come by my student's posters -- they would love your support! 😇 📜: PepTune (openreview.net/forum?id=FQoy1…) -- we're handing out stickers!! 🌟 📍: Main Conference Poster Session 4, W-316 👩💻:…
Excellent example of the core issue I was trying to get at wrt "virtual cells" - optimizing a prediction objective will not necessarily provide an accurate representation of physical or biological phenomena. It's extremely important to be very clear about this. 1/
Can an AI model predict perfectly and still have a terrible world model? What would that even mean? Our new ICML paper formalizes these questions One result tells the story: A transformer trained on 10M solar systems nails planetary orbits. But it botches gravitational laws 🧵
The is diabolical... a Python object that hallucinates method implementations on demand any time you call them, using my LLM Python library github.com/awwaiid/gremllm
Very elegant approach - put CAR-T cytokine payloads under the control of loci that are upregulated in T cells within the tumor microenvironment to avoid systemic tox. Also KO suppressive gene in the process. Pleased to see that this worked so well!
Delighted to share our new approach to enhance CAR T cell function in solid tumours published today @Nature. In this work we identify a new strategy to generate armoured CAR T cells. nature.com/articles/s4158…

.@geochurch is the godfather of modern synthetic biology. He thinks that the last few decades of progress have put us on the verge of the big payoffs: deaging, deextinction, biobots that combine the best of human & natural engineering, and (unfortunately) weaponized mirror…
