Fifty Years
@fiftyyears
Make something civilization needs. Helping great scientists and engineers become great entrepreneurs is our jam.
Trying something new by releasing full Happy Warrior videos on here. Should we continue?
Curious how 90% of our stuff might soon sail across the ocean on vessels with no fuel and no crew? Hear how @SailClippership is building an armada of wind powered autonomous boats in this week's episode of Happy Warriors.

Come and join the Scientist to Founder Series by 50Y! The Caltech event is tentatively scheduled for August 7th. I also highly recommend their 5050 program — across the 3-month program, I learned so much about what it takes to become an indispensable founder!
Startups are the best way to scale the impact of research. At 50Y, we've helped 100s of scientists go from lab bench to founding. Want to learn how deep tech companies get started and how to grow into a great founder? Join us at Stanford, Berkeley, UW, or Caltech 👇
We're coming to Stanford, Berkeley, UW, Caltech to help more scientists start companies.

5050 taught me this: great science isn't enough. You need to deeply understand the problem you're solving.
Wow, so cool that your cloud agent can almost do what my laptop has been doing this whole time. Except mine already has my logins, apps, and context. And doesn’t cost $0.15 per click. 🙃
ChatGPT can now do work for you using its own computer. Introducing ChatGPT agent—a unified agentic system combining Operator’s action-taking remote browser, deep research’s web synthesis, and ChatGPT’s conversational strengths.
At @fiftyyears we almost exclusively back deep tech founders. Substack is a rare exception. Why did we lead their seed? Because they’re building something civilization needs. Culture is an essential input to progress. But today, social media distorts culture -- toward…
We’ve raised $100 million that we will put to work for creators and their audiences. Ownership for creators. Agency for audiences. Substack is a network built in service of people who care about culture. I’m pumped for this. Now we go big.
Elicit is robust to this because it evaluates "quality" and "relevance" based on the methodology of the paper (e.g. sample size, study design, type of statistical analysis) and doesn't give open-ended, subjective takes on quality. We generally want to move away from lossy…
I've observed @markwbudde since the early days. Even then, he understood the need and was willing to do the tedious work of building an excellent operation and business first, which is rare. Love seeing all the scientists who are enabled by their products now.
Had a great chat with @fiftyyears telling the @plasmidsaurus story for their new Happy Warriors series. At Caltech, I was so frustrated with the stagnant DNA sequencing industry that I started a company out of my garage. Now we accelerate science around the globe, every day.

The number of times I mention @plasmidsaurus to scientists and they start raving about how it has saved them days of work, massively accelerating their experiments is wild. Tune in to Happy Warriors to learn how deep tech founders are quietly sparking revolutions.
