Same w/‘moral panic’. The phrase gets most of its power from panicking being undignified; doubly so if it’s based on moralizing. But s/times you *should* panic. If male rapists in women’s prisons or surgical mutilation of confused teens don’t make you panic, wtf is wrong w/you
This drives me mad. People seem to think that if you call something (eg male rapists in women’s prisons) a ‘right-wing talking point’ this somehow cancels out the fact that it’s true
I did a talk to women’s charities explaining how post FWS they could choose to continue legally provide services to trans women by separating out the services so that each service has own admission criteria (and single sex services are truly single sex). wrc.org.uk/Blog/supreme-c…

If only NHS Fife had a head of human resources who could have stepped in to save taxpayers hundreds of thousands of pounds by resolving the Sandie Peggie/Dr Upton case before it reached court. It does, of course: David Miller, hired on a salary of up to £107,000 a year. 🧵

Mat puts it simply and he puts it well. Basic stuff but if more men would find their inner Mat, this would all swiftly be over. The men who seek to walk all over women's boundaries are our fellow men and it is our role as men to police them, not leave it all to the women.

Scottish follwers. The government up here thinks that if a mother wants to feel able to take her small boy somewhere with her, a loo or a DV shelter, say, this is the start of an argument for letting some men in women's spaces. It's too sleekit to say it out loud, though.

A point to note about the evidence today in Peggie v NHS Fife: Jane Russell KC was the first to suggest that the expert evidence on Dr Upton’s phone notes suggests that Upton has lied about the contemporaneousness of the notes. And she did it twice.
They said that they accepted the ruling, but it's clear that @scotgov haven't read a word! A service can be mixed sex or single sex - that is it!

Important development in Peggie v NHS Fife - a note that male doctor Dr Upton claimed was contemporaneous was actually altered later to include an alleged patient safety incident involving Sandie Peggie, the nurse suspended as a result of his complaints. heraldscotland.com/news/25341258.…

Breaking! Thread. This is HUGE!! During the tribunal, the witness has lapsed into calling Dr Upton “he”. Jane Russell can’t have that and breaks in to remind the witness that we are all playing a game! This sounds to me like suborning perjury but what do I know. 1/.
