Grounded in our history (with help from The Attagirls), engaged with the reality of our present, looking to our future - @DalgetySusan and I wanted to find a way to platform more women’s voices. On the first birthday of #womenwhowouldntwheesht, here it is.
A new fortnightly publication by women for women - and with the organisational skills of its co-editors, @DalgetySusan and @LucyHunterB behind it, you just know it will be good.
Witnesses in Sandie Peggie's tribunal are humiliating themselves and undermining trust in doctors. My @scotonsunday column: scotsman.com/news/opinion/c…
I have worked with hundreds of bone marrow or stem cell transplant patients. Not one of them ever changed biological sex as a result.
The most concerning thing about the nonsense spouted about bone marrow transplants & chromosomal conditions yesterday was wondering how this would land with the panel. Rare conditions are, sadly, too often weaponised (I fear "our" side is also guilty), so a 🧵
I've just saved the Scottish Museum and Gallery sector from closure. I should get an award or something .
Rules banning trans people from using toilets aligned with their gender identity could force some museums and galleries to close, the industry body has warned thenational.scot/news/25344028.…
It will never stop boggling my mind that none of the events in my case were disputed. The only thing that mattered to ScotGov or the ET was that my beliefs upset people. Whether I was upset was wholly irrelevant.
This is only an overstatement of the official position of the @MuseumsGalScot, to the extent that they are only saying some museums and galleries will close.
"let men in the female toilets or we'll close the museums"
An employer treated an employee badly - and the defensive strategy seems to be more about "proving" that some employees deserve that, rather than disproving that the bad treatment happened.
What Sandie Peggie’s tribunal makes clear,if people are willing to really look, is that this is, at its core, about an employer treating an employee badly. That’s the crux of it. A woman raised legitimate concerns and was punished for it. Everything else is a distraction. The…
Everyone who says they can't tell men from women should go the whole hog and stop discriminating between food and non-food items. Eat the shredded wheat, the spoon, the bowl and a chunk of the table.
Chalk Paths. 17°C with cloud and sunshine. Sheep on the hillside.
It's as offensive & stupid as saying that because congenital limb anomalies occur, he should be allowed to claim he has no left leg (despite all evidence to the contrary). Is Ms Russell introducing a claim that Dr Upton has a chromosomal condition or an unknown DSD?
The only thing any jobbing bureaucrat has to understand about very rare cases of atypical sex development, in the context of not breaching the Equality Act.
But, one thing we can be clear about. None of this has ANY relevance to whether a man with typical sex development can demand entrance to the women's changing room.
We might take this as a barometer of how (un)comfortable this story is making people in the Cowcaddens catchment?
No coverage of the Sandie Peggie case on @BBCRadioScot newspaper review. After last week’s daft rant they had a duty to redress the balance with a well informed commentator on identity politics instead we get Liz Lloyd, one of the architects of the mess, & Brian Taylor 🤦♀️
100 days since the Supreme Court judgment - @WelshGovernment have done NOTHING to comply. Clearly, they just don’t care about women and girls in Wales. Yet we must keep reminding them. Senedd elections are in 2026. Keep the receipts women of Wales!
FYI, though it receives a massive chunk of funding from the SG, it’s a charity (not a quango) and receives National Lottery funding too - the tendrils in civil society are trying to subvert the law
“Some museums can only stay open if any men who want to can use the ladies loos” does not become a less loopy position, just because you use more jargon to express it.
The lanyard-clutchers have lost their fucking minds. SNP quango: Museums will be forced to SHUT if they ban men from women's toilets scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/news/politics/…

I’m warming to this idea.
Science founded the Ignoble Prizes. This is in the same vein though I doubt winners would celebrate it.
Only if you think public bodies not looking unhinged and evading the law is an issue. Looked at from the point of having lots of well-paid publicly-funded jobs where no amount of being unhinged and avoiding laws you don't like will damage your career, we're doing pretty well.
What a shambles Scotland is right now.
