A council question about walking reveals what a low priority walking is for @LewishamCouncil - no spend attached (unlike cycling where they spend loads). Yesterday’s walk showed how deprioritized walking is. Impossible to navigate the pavement without stepping into the bike lane

Today marked the final day of school before the summer holidays begin. It's disheartening to see that the needs of children who rely on SEND transport are overlooked, forced onto time-inefficient, circuitous routes due to the widespread implementation of LTNs- a policy that you…
@LambethLibDems @LibDemDonna @Lambethgp @GreenPartyScott Pls come to an agreement on who has the best chance of ousting @LambethLabour in Streatham Hill and beyond & get the vote out! Otherwise Labour cllrs will have a another 4 years of virtue signalling and pseudo listening!
'For late-diagnosed adults, an autism diagnosis can come after decades of struggle, being ostracised and othered. “At last my life makes sense” or “I’ve finally found my tribe” are frequently reported as responses to an autism diagnosis.' ✍️ @ginarippon1 theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
Trams increase choice. Within 2yrs Croydon Tram carried 16m passengers a yr. 20% transferred from cars. Trams work especially well where the population density is not high enough to justify a tube but where trips can take a long time by bus. But UK needs to cut construction costs
Just arrived in Dieppe on first leg of interrail trip. Dieppe has free electric minivans connecting the station and city centre. @tfl if only London could follow suit.
Great to see Cllr Sakina Sheikh formally announce the #Blackheath Fireworks in tonight’s full council! So excited after 6 long years that we’ll finally get this great community event back 🎇
I’m delighted that the #Blackheath Fireworks will be returning this year, after years of conversations to make them possible! The Fireworks were a special point of each year when I grew up in the area, bringing tens of thousands to spend money in our Village. Great news! 🎆
If LTNs are about health they should implemented for the busiest roads where asthma rates are highest. Wealthy side street residents would complain about their added traffic but it’s mainly self-generated. Living with the consequence might force behaviour change. @SocEnvJustice

Many disabled and older people face significant barriers to accessing key public services, such as public transport. Our new strategic plan includes action to address these barriers, so everyone can participate in society. Read our strategic plan here: orlo.uk/R2Ywk
In a parallel universe @TfL and @LewishamCouncil deliver a useful active travel project - TFL subsidized Santander bikes for Lewisham. In reality LBL will squander their active travel funding on 3 hangers for the LTN costing £££ while TFL continue to ignore its SE quadrant.
It would be wonderful to extend the Santander Cycles. We hope they will cover all inner London boroughs in full (including West Dulwich) 💚 We also want to see adapted hire bikes, able to carry children, cargo & accessible by those facing mobility challenges 💚 @willnorman
Our oppostion to LTNs is well-known but we had a fair challenge that we say more what we think on other matters. It's on our website, but here goes. First up: Pavements. They should be safe, well-maintained, accessible havens for pedestrians, not invaded by other species.
The cars are from side roads too! So where’s the trade off for side road users? Morally indefensible to put traffic on to roads where the buses transport so many. And still NO measures for families here. And no energy for it either.
Cllr Leeming calls choosing Croxted to take all of the traffic in Dulwich during timed restrictions a "trade off," but only because the roads were "choked with traffic" before, so it's fine? Rational reasoning has left the building...
Floating Bus Stops are designed so cyclists do not have to wait behind buses when they stop at bus stops. The simplest solution is to widen bus lanes so cyclist can pass buses in safety.💚 Instead, TfL are inviting fast/heavy e-bikes onto our pavements.😨 bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
My daughter is interning in Japan. Like the Japanese she’ll send her suitcase internally, £15 for large case collection and delivery anywhere. Japan’s national cheap, reliable fast courier service facilitates train travel. Shame no UK equivalent kuronekoyamato.co.jp/ytc/en/send/se…
This powerful from @indieHackney . The result of Hackney Council putting more and more traffic onto fewer roads and its stubborn refusal to open up its LTNs to ease the impact of road works.
Just another day for the victims of LTNs and road closures carried out without mitigation. You know who matters to @HackneyLabour when Richmond Rd is not reopened to traffic and poor people on Dalston Lane are left to breathe in this level of pollution in this heat.
Looks like @lambeth_council are yet again pressing ahead with an LTN (bordering on Southwark) w/out proper consultation. This time they appear to be blaming @lb_southwark for not passing on any details of community groups who shld have been consulted @SocEnvJustice @andrewellson
Local councillor @GrahamNeale demanding that Southwark Council's leader join us and push Lambeth to consult with local businesses, churches, and community groups over their plans for a Low Traffic Neighbourhood.
Just imagine how wonderful London could be if we had a commissioner for walking. Sadly, like bus travel, walking is for the poor so a long way below cycling on TfL's list of priorities.
Everyone should watch this! It's a delightful & joyous celebration of how we're transforming London into a cycling city. Brilliant to see ... but there's much more hard work to do. #LondonLovesCycling 🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲 youtube.com/watch?v=OunBRd…
Where did we fail TFL? How long is a driver's training? Are pre- and post-employment medical examinations, including mental health screenings? @MayorofLondon @SebDance @H_S_E @transportgovuk @Heidi_Labour @metpoliceuk @MPSBexley @LBofBexley #adasheartbeat #visionzeronow
In their latest attack on EHCPS, LAs say schools are fighting attempts to place SEND children, some claiming an EHCP is an easy way to say they cannot meet needs. No EHCP=you’d never know why they refused, or they’ll exclude later #SaveOurChildrensRights schoolsweek.co.uk/enforcement-fi…
