Why is the @AoMRC sticking their oar into resident doctors’ legal industrial action, and implying that their action will make it “extremely difficult to maintain safe patient care”? Stick to your lane. @AoMRCTrainees has this message been endorsed by you?
The sun rises and so do I. Time to get to the picket and get set up! I’ll be live tweeting today, and possibly be doing some streaming from the picket line too, so keep an eye out for it! #payrestoration
This you lad? @wesstreeting
Now we know why Rishi Sunak refuses to negotiate with NHS staff. He wants the strikes to go ahead, so he can blame doctors and nurses for his failure. #PMQs
Don’t you think he looks tired?
"We did not need to be in this position. These strikes were unnecessary." @WesStreeting explains why 👇 Watch his message to NHS staff continuing to work during strikes.
How did I get through the entirety of undergraduate and postgraduate medical training without hearing about ‘the medical model’? It’s just a word salad used to excuse poorly trained & expensive pseudo-doctors replacements doing work that should be done by doctors.
Does Wes Streeting want these strikes to happen? He’s made no offer, no commitment, and had months to prepare. He can't agree to paying doctors 22.67£/hr. With all the private healthcare linked donations he’s taken, does he want the NHS to fail? share.google/7y8PdeRm0s4Mrj…
The @lengreview says that this is unsafe @wesstreeting . How do we protect ourselves? Why are we having to quiz staff on their titles and qualifications? Why are we put in a position to risk being struck off the GP practice list for asking to see a GP? youtu.be/l4XUWvPAp9A?si…
How to radicalise resident doctors 101. Great work @wesstreeting 👏👏👏
EXCL: Wes Streeting’s offer to the BMA in full - including cheaper lunches! This is what the doctors’ union rejected in favour of strikes: thesun.co.uk/news/politics/…
After seeing the pathetic terms he tried to offer Resident Doctors, it’s clear @wesstreeting either doesn’t understand the seriousness of the issues, or is treating it as a joke Even I wouldn’t have settled for this and I had it slightly better than them I hope they strike hard
"There is no such thing as a free lunch" Wes thinks that tea and a cold sandwich will make up for the fact that he pays Doctors Assistants £10,000 more than actual Doctors 🤣 Strike hard

It’s quite telling that Streeting thinks these things should be negotiated on and not just a prerequisite This country is cooked

I rely on doctors to keep me alive. If my heart wobbles and they arent there, im screwed. Yet i support the strike by junior (resident) doctors. Because someone whose bust a gut for years to qualify, who saves lives, is worth 22 quid an hour. Its not complicated.
Boomsplaining that "medicine is a vocation" to people on far worse T&Cs than you enjoyed is so offensive
1/ Kate Matharu, a GP of 25 years, told The Guardian that resident doctors striking “harms patients” and that people who put finances first “shouldn’t be in the profession.” We should talk about why this perspective is deeply flawed.
Also NZ: - free meals - all professional fees, exams and courses covered (latter including transport and accommodation even if abroad) - short staffed during shift? = supplementary pay to compensate for covering 2 team roles. Felt truly valued for the first time in my career.
Let’s compare… Wes: I can offer 🔹More hours 🔹Less than half the pay 🔹An NHS meal deal 🔹Being treated like shit 🔹Your assistants paid c30% more All whilst I vilify you in the media. NZ: We can offer 🔸Reasonable hours 🔸More than double the pay 🔸Well staffed rotas 🤔
Hi @AoMRC 👋 You are directly undermining strike action Does this statement represent the view of your member Colleges?
The same @AoRMC that supported the proliferation of PAs? - now undermining residents for their honours The most serious failure of leadership is the failure to foresee. Who are our ‘leaders’ and who do they represent?
The erosion of doctors’ pay & conditions is an extreme example of the serious issue of intergenerational inequality. Standards of living are supposed to be better for every generation. Yet the majority of younger people can’t even afford to buy a house (w/out parental help).
Well said. This is rough & ready but useful I think!
Wow This is why doctors are striking

Dear GMC FTP lawyer, could you give Wes a call please, he said it would be ok?
I don’t understand why it’s only during strikes that there’s apparently an opportunity to talk training numbers, working conditions & improving doctors working lives & patient care I also don’t understand why striking should impact the opportunity to discuss these It’s his job
