If love was spread as quick as hate what a wonderful world it would be.🌍 I disengage & block people who lose the art of debate and resort to name calling.
This doesn't fill me with confidence that hysteroscopy should ever be performed on patients who are awake. Women talking about 'managing' the pain or 'discomfort', self-dosing with painkillers before and after the procedure. The choice to continue, just to 'get it over with'...
I just underwent womb biopsy. Having suffered a very painful hysterosalpingogram 10yrs ago I dreaded it & was entirely unsurprised to, once again, have no pain relief offered or available. The closest I imagine for men is prostate biopsy without pain relief…it would never happen
youtube.com/watch?v=D01oJO… @drphilhammond @wesstreeting @misrab This is how @NHSGIRFT @CityStGeorges treats women who need uterine endoscopy. Have a nice bath Take your own painkillers Relax Bring chants or recitations NO sedation NO anaesthesia NO guarantee Entonox

“Misogyny in healthcare” is rife - I said this on TV 📺 over 5years ago and was asked to retract my comment - putting your head above the parapet is not easy 😔 I cannot begin to express how much I echo this letter by my friend and colleague Elspeth Sewell in The Guardian…
Many thanks for all your support on the issue of avoidable harm in invasive gynae procedures such as hysteroscopy. Please spread the word, use your influence, for the sake of women across the UK who are being distressed and traumatised by h/c more appropriate to 1825, not 2025
Val, how can @TheDA_UK help take this forward? We’ve been asleep at the wheel whilst you’ve been shouting from the rooftops. It sadly took a relative being affected for this to hit home – and that’s on me. You deserve better support on this.
Liz, let’s go through this slowly. Bullet points might help you follow along: 📉 “Pro-growth policies” You didn’t implement any. You crashed the markets with a fantasy budget full of unfunded tax cuts. That’s not “pro-growth,” that’s economic vandalism. 🏦 Blaming the Bank of…
Which hospital'/s' hysteroscopy clinic/s does this refer to? ".. doctors I know who want to offer pain relief as standard, are blocked either by colleagues or the Trust based on 'this is how we do it here'." @NHSGIRFT @OUHospitals @RBNHSFT @DrNighatArif
I wish I had the solution. We have institutional bias in the UK against women’s health.Even doctors I know who want to offer pain relief as standard, are blocked either by colleagues or the Trust based on ‘this is how we do it here’.
You sign the medical consent form completely unaware that the medical professional you trusted has chosen NOT to warn you of a serious known risk. As a result of this inaction, YOU or a loved one were seriously harmed. This is NOT #InformedConsent You think it won't happen to…

Where's @TheBSGE programme for anaesthetist-led IV sedation+analgesia for hysteroscopy? How safe and pain-free is non-medically trained outpatient hysteroscopy? @Hologic recommends stress balls and pictures on the ceiling as distraction technique for women. @BalenAdam
What Dr Busby has done is listen to women, hear their experiences and advocate for her patients. Why is this such a lot to ask? Why are ALL gynaecologists - whose actual job it is to act in women’s best interests - not doing this most basic thing? I’m waiting…..
Is sedation the right choice for your hysteroscopy? youtu.be/o20MDtLoboI?si… via @YouTube This is what women have been crying (or screaming if you’re being tortured) for years - and these two heros have listened and acted. For pity’s sake, why isn’t everyone else following suit?

It is truly, truly, horrifying if the drugs they are using/planning to use to chemically castrate criminals are also being used on the general public as antidepressants to 'help' with depression. Stealing someone's sexual future without their knowledge by misleading them is not…
Appalling treatment of women undergoing hysteroscopy shows complete lack of concern & care for women & ignorance of neurology & need for analgesia- hope they are sued- only way to stop them
Amend this immediately @WHHNHS - you should be v v embarrassed at this rubbish. Your anaesthetists will be cringing. How can you claim any kind of informed consent if you’re genuinely telling hysteroscopy patients that a vocal local is “topical local anaesthetic “.
NHS diagnostic hysteroscopy patients are usually put through Trial in Outpatients with NO anaesthesia. Some pts will have taken their own ibuprofen &/or paracetamol. No analgesia is usually given. Women get distraction chat. Prof Sean Duffy declared OPH pain over-emphasised.
I understand that you’re looking at money as a commissioner, but this service is about pure humanity - pain relief. When over a third of women are in intense pain during gynae procedures, that is unconscionable.
Well done @DrGailBusby for challenging the status quo and listening to the voices of your patients. This is the beginning of the end of unnecessary pain during #hysteroscopy procedures 👏👏👏 @RCObsGyn @NHSGIRFT
'If you build it, they will come.' - Field of Dreams. What I hoped would happen is starting to happen - gynaecologists & anaesthetists are contacting me to find out about our pathway for hysteroscopy under sedation. The opening is over, and the end game is in sight! @NHSGIRFT
What other outpatient procedures require a support group to help patients deal with consequences - physical state, emotions, #PTSD? Accounts on @HysteroscopyA survey (now over 9K) are harrowing to read hysteroscopyaction.org.uk/home/pain-surv… #gynaecology #GIRFT @NHSGIRFT
I’m glad to hear you’re ok & hope that an apology will be forthcoming🤞🏼 It amazes me that some medics still believe sedation & adequate analgesia for women having these procedures should be ‘optional extras’. Keep doing what you’re doing, hopefully more will follow. Thank you 🙏🏼x
Maybe @pash22 could have an equivalent procedure without anaesthesia. I recently had a hysteroscopy, and even though I am a doctor, I wasn't aware how horrendous it would be. The saving grace is they had gas and air available. Brutal...
