We stand with Rachael Maskell, Neil Duncan-Jordan, Brian Leishman, Chris Hinchliff, Rosena Allin Khan, Bell Ribeiro-Addy and Mohammed Yasin, Thank you for taking a stand against this government's cruel welfare cuts and putting disabled people's lives before party politics
At the end of my busy week I'm running an online session with @disabilityarts on using the political thinking around disability as creative tools. Sign up here. disabilityarts.online/events/our-rig…
Rachael Maskell gave an emotional and impassioned speech that primarily centred on disabled being human beings who deserve care, support and respect - that speech touched a LOT of people, and this will read to many people as her being punished for recognising our basic humanity.
BREAKING: Rachael Maskell has become the fourth Labour MP to be suspended from Keir Starmer's party today. Just listen to her impassioned speech and tell me she deserved this. What on earth is the PM thinking?

Labour has a Disability problem. I don't think many at a senior level realise that, it's hard for anyone to admit prejudice. Nevertheless it's there in their language and behaviours. They can change this, but they have to want to do it.
Absolutely, Spot on !….but in reality #AccessToWork cuts are pushing employment out of reach for #disabled people. Watch this from @ShaniDhanda featuring Jess @touretteshero ⬇️ channel4.com/news/access-to…
🚨‼️We don’t trust a word you say. You’ve cut #AccessToWork while DECEIVING & BETRAYING #disabled people with a sham #PathwaysToWork ATW consultation. Here’s an example how you ended @touretteshero’s career⬇️ 🛑 #VoteNo #BinUCBill #DisabilityBenefits touretteshero.com/2025/05/23/a-c…
The Right to Try Guarantee If you are disabled or have a health condition, our proposed reform aims to remove one of the biggest barriers to trying out work #WelfareReform
Chaotic events in parliament on Tuesday, and three months of activism since the publication of the Pathways to Work green paper, have left disabled people’s organisations appalled, shocked, and struggling to trust the government. #binUCbill disabilitynewsservice.com/disastrous-cut…

Ever wondered what PIP is or why some disabled people get it? It’s not “free money.” It’s not “extra help.” It’s a lifeline in an inaccessible world. Disabled people face on average £1,095 in avoidable extra costs per month. #TakingThePIP #DisabilityBenefits

Vastly eroded majority and bare bones of the initial bill that they attempted to push through. We got them to concede, we will fight until they scrap the bill - our fight is not over yet!
BREAKING Govt passes welfare Bill after promising to remove its main cost-saving measures 335 Aye 260 No Majority of 75 - down from 165 when at full strength
Chaotic, rushed-through concessions drawn up on the back of a napkin are no way to make policy that will affect millions of people. MPs must vote NO on benefit cuts, and work with Disabled people to coproduce reforms to welfare that help Disabled people instead of punishing us.
The welfare bill has passed but it’s barely the same bill. It’s government by cut and paste and with such chaotic speed, many ministers will barely know what’s in it. An utter shambles - and horrific unnecessary stress and suffering for disabled and sick people watching on.
This legislation will have life-altering consequences for disabled people. Briefing last-minute changes without time to debate, scrutinise and consider the effects shows desperation to rush it through and disregard for those impacted. Even now, we still have time to scrap it.
Powerful words by @RichardBurgon just now, but sadly I believe many will be persuaded by fake last-minute concessions from #DWP ministers: 'Any Labour MP who votes for this bill... that vote will hang like an albatross around their necks.' #TakingThePIP #WelfareNotWarfare
