Today - along with other rebels - I got an email from Party Authorities telling me I voted in Parliament against the Govts welfare reforms 6 times in one day. I don't repent my votes. I was elected on a pledge to stand by working class electors and above all the poorest.
No, pretty sure it’s not just how you felt about it. Many thousands of us have been through the same with varying levels of union support or none. It’s societal ableism coupled with capitalism that disposes of us as soon as we cease to fit neatly into being cogs in the wheel.
Couldn't even get my union interested in a tribunal for an obvious case of constructive dismissal. Fees had just come in, and it was low paid work, so no real win to be had for them. It *felt* dismissive of disability generally, but that may just have been me...
I’ve yet to see the Government plan to address disabled / chronically sick people being ‘managed’ out of their jobs, many of whom don’t have the spoons to fight back by going to employment tribunal. Where’s the penalty for employers who chuck us toward benefits ?

Surprised it’s not 100% of disabled people asked. But given its history, I’m not convinced that an organisation like Sustrans can be relied on to fix any of it ? Where are they, for example, in opposing inaccessible rail bridges that break active travel routes ?

The Universal Credit Bill has passed. The Motion of Regret did not. I am heartbroken. We got powerful truths spoken in the Lords which may help later in legal and public fights. But.... What is this thing called Labour. Not something I morally recognise Love to all x
Only 17 peers opposed the UC Bill, Govt has rammed it through. We defeated all the PIP measures. But the bill remains harmful to disabled people. Shameful exercise of anti democratic ableist power. parliamentlive.tv/event/index/86…

Sorry to say that's it. The universal credit bill has been passed. Not a great advert for the #Lords this evening, despite a small number of good speeches by those opposed. Full report by DNS on Thursday. Not feeling thrilled about democracy this evening. #UniversalCreditBill
Never has the term 'co-produced' been used so badly by so many! #TakingThePIP
Thank you @natalieben and @Tanni_GT for your contributions to the debate. From the outside, it's a helpless situation to be in. Thank you for giving disabled and chronically sick people a voice. 🙏 #UCBill
'Self identify as disabled' Does this Lord not understand you need a medical diagnosis to claim health-related benefits? #UCBill
I agree. It is a very similar situation to Copmanthorpe, public right of way over level crossing, with deemed prior approval, and only true objection potential being at the public path modification stage. Two differences: 1) existing crossing has steps 2) Council not objecting.
Excellent. If you keep me posted I shall join you in objecting. I visited Kennington many times when my godfather lived there so it feels irrationally personal once again. But all denial of our rightful access is of course an affront.
Yeah. I plan on triggering a public inquiry during the public path modification order process.
News from civil servants preparing Liz Kendall's pensions review. Kendall wants to look at "phasing in" the pension starting with 25% of a pension at age 68 and getting 100% of the pension at age 72. This will be represented as not affecting the triple lock. It's already the…
