Imagine going through your whole career, reaping its benefits, then condemning those who come after you, despite the fact they face far worse pay, conditions and job prospects. This generation of doctors is standing up and fighting for our profession. Long may it continue. FPR.

So Wes has; 🔸Failed to deliver last year’s deal 🔹Refused to talk with RDC since May 🔸Pretended RDC didn’t want to talk 🔹Agreed to talk but not on pay 🔸Now wants strikes called off to talk having offered absolutely nothing?! Meet the new boss, he’s just like the old boss.
At today's RDC meeting, we’ve voted to go ahead with strike action. Last week when we met @wesstreeting we were open to finding solutions to restore pay and improve working conditions. Today, we still do not have a credible offer on the table @Melissa_S_Ryan @RossNieuwoudt

One can say this is cringe-worthy or whatever. I personally think it's fantastic that these UK specialist resident doctors are celebrated for their achievements by their training body. 🎊🎉🥂
An extremely warm welcome to our new ST3s Max Dewhurst, Emily Boother, Siddarth Raj, Peggy Miller and Aniket Bharadwaj. They will be joining the Royal London rotation in October.
This doctor shared her payslip to show the stark reality NHS doctors face. Fully qualified. Working exhausting 48 hour weeks: nights, evenings, weekends. Regularly uprooted from family, friends and support networks. All to earn just £17.56 an hour. That’s 21% less in real…
I doubt that a digital vibecheck is what Prof Leng had in mind when she wrote the recommendation. This is the problem. If the recommendation wouldn't have protected Emily Chesterton, then it's insufficient.
Just had a conversation with a doctor. A London A&E is already gaming the system They require PAs to discuss the patient with a Reg or Con before being seen The patient is now considered differentiated And they can see the patient as before Including majors and…
🚨London Doctors🚨 Did you know your London Weighting has been left behind compared to NHS colleagues and other public sector workers? How far behind, you ask? Take a look!👇🏼 Your @BMALondon will be launching our campaign to tackle this very soon!✊🏼 Watch this space! 👀
Calling all London doctors! The London picket will be at St Thomas’ Hospital on Friday 25th July, 8am–12pm. This is a key moment in our fight for full pay restoration. Every voice matters. Every presence counts. Let’s show @wesstreeting our strength and our resolve.
Unless you're a doctor, in which case it's 23% down. That's why we're striking. We don't want a pay rise, we want pay restoration.
The average pay packet in the UK today, once adjusted for inflation, is the same size as it was in 2008. —Office for National Statistics
I’m so sorry but it irks me to hear £37k is a good starting salary as a doctor because there’s potential to increase in 5-10 years. Apart from the obvious fact that pay shouldn’t be based on potential, our career pathway is no longer linear because of a lack of training posts.
1. Shaming doctors for doing literally anything nice for themselves that costs money (Going to a restaurant etc) 2. Paying doctors £17/hour
What's one thing that's normal in the UK but weird everywhere else?
Doctors currently earn £18.62 an hour, they are asking for £22.67 an hour. Their assistants get paid £24.45 an hour. How can @wesstreeting defend paying doctors less than their assistants?
If doctors pay had kept up with inflation since 2008, would you be advocating for doctors pay to be cut by 21%? This wouldn’t even be a consideration @wesstreeting Doctors being paid £22.67/hr is not an unreasonable ask. This is still less than our assistants pay.
"It's not too late even at this late stage for us to get back on the path that I wanted us to be on of working together." @WesStreeting makes clear why the BMA's resident doctors committee must change their approach 👇
I'm not a Resident Doctor. I am privileged enough to pay for a cleaner. I pay my cleaner £25 per hour. Resident Doctors are asking for less than that. My cleaner makes my house smell nice. A Resident Doctor will save your life. #Strikehard
The NHS for years gone by and in the upcoming 10 year plan is deliberately pursuing the agenda of de-skilling and "taskifying" the process. The NHS is willfully substituting doctors with generalist skillsets for narrow "trained to task" roles. This inevitably causes additional…
It's always weird to see these bizarre claims that the committee is "hard left" or "corbynistas". This is a wave of young people aged typically between 23-35 who see Broken Britain for what it is. Raising rent, raising house prices, raising energy prices, raising leisure…
"we shouldn't be paying to reverse our own pay cuts". Very well said. Everyone in this country is suffering. The solution can't be to ensure suffering later as well. Doctors are only considering striking because they're desperately looking for reasons to stay
‘We shouldn’t be paying to reverse our own pay cuts.’ @lewis_goodall questions BMA representative Dr Emma Runswick on whether doctors’ pensions should be changed to fund increased pay.
Sick of being called ‘greedy’, Brown line is consultants, way below the zero line, the blue line is average workers, back above zero. Average pay has climbed at about equal rates over last 3 years but consultant pay still nearly 20% down graph (CPI). There’s full tax restoration,…
The BMA Resident Doctors Committee still refuses to meet me. After a 28.9% pay rise, they say another 29% is “non-negotiable.” This is not the way a reasonable trade union behaves.
This is outrageous @parthaskar has done a tremendous job standing up against many who have attempted to sell out UK healthcare for their own benefit. @RCPhysicians will need to have extremely strong justification for this move.
FINALLY- Decision @RCPhysicians investigation Removal from the Council of an elected member Barring standing for elections 12 months By a panel which is unknown - with zero right to reply. (To be ratified by Council on 15/7) For exposing chicanery around PAs by senior…
