trainee consultant
@juniordoc554
everyone wants to play doctor- advanced SHO trainee consultant CMAP
Unbelievable stuff- 57 CT scans ordered by a physician associate in ED over 3 years.

How is this guy allowed to spout such rubbish😂
I know a GP who once kept giving a pt paracetamol for headaches for years rather than referring. Turned out to be a brain tumour. Should we tell GPs to stop seeing all patients? Also heard if one who branded his pts during surgery. 1 GP killed 80 pts. Shipman was his name.
Just had a conversation with a doctor. A London A&E is already gaming the system They require PAs to discuss the patient with a Reg or Con before being seen The patient is now considered differentiated And they can see the patient as before Including majors and…
ICYMI, @pa_StephenNash throwing tantrums. Glorious.
1/n I want to say something about PAs. I don’t know yet if this will be long or short cause I am not psychic. What I do know is this: the situation has become a mess. Not just administratively. Not just professionally. But emotionally. And it’s going to leave scars.
This is Jeannie Watkins doing The PA on the radio is literally parroting off Jeanie ‘We teach you medicine… in 2 years’ Genuinely - a national inquiry is needed NOW @wesstreeting
Physician associate claims to have attended ‘medical school’ and studied 80% of graduate medicine in 2 yrs EIGHTY PERCENT! Is this what you’re teaching your PA students @CityStGeorges @CityStG_Health ?
I would like to extend my moral support to all the Physician Assistants at @LG_NHS as they now work in supportive roles, no longer seeing undifferentiated patients, not work as Dr substitutes, have a named Consultant or SAS Dr who supervises ALL their “day to day” work
I’m all for celebrating achievements, but this should not be combined. I would have been fuming if I’d had to share the FRCA ceremony with AAs…
Time to recognise the dedication and brilliance of our new Advanced Clinical Practitioners, MRCEM and FRCEM diplomates who are lining up for their moment on the stage! It's going to be an inspiring day #rcemdiploma
No the only difference between a PA and a doctor is not just a ‘year long prescribing course’ To have such little insight is exactly why the public is in grave danger
A PA responding to a comment on ITV’s FB news page. “The only difference between a Dr and a PA is a year long prescriber course.” 🤔
Day 2 post Leng Despite accepting the @Lengreview in full. The GMC register still refers to Physician associates
I really need Doctors to really start talking like this more. Everyone gets mad at the comparison of wages to other jobs when the reality is they’re not remotely the same
‘Average salary’ this ‘good wage for the uk’ that I am not average!!! And neither is my job! I have three degrees and people die in front of me at my workplace! Stick your average salary!!
Recommend everyone emails their local trust with the NHSE response to the Leng Review asking when they will distribute new SOPs with name updates !

If u r a RD working in a team with one of these Consultants& u see a Physician Assistant (whom they r very friendly with) working out of the remit of their scope &putting pt at significant risk& u had to step in to protect pt. Will u feel confident to raise it with Consultant?
List of Councillors on website Atleast 50% of them have voted to rescind his FRCP bcoz they want to punish a whistleblower advocating for patient safety Given @RCPhysicians lack Transparency they will not release voting records Most of them still work clinically with patients🚩
Now this is something I think could avert strikes plus doesn’t give the bad media of “Wes giving in to greedy doctors” @wesstreeting theguardian.com/politics/2025/…
It also confirmed hospitals have used them as substitutes for drs...no surprise there. Hospitals have been doing same with nursing associates for years, as with many other lesser trained roles. This is taskification of care, now Govt policy in NHS 10 year plan #patientsafety
Physician associates should be banned from diagnosing and seeing untriaged patients, a govt review has found: thetimes.com/article/19cf84…
I cannot begin to tell you the absolute burst of emotions that comes when you hear this from @wesstreeting 2 years of my life - trying to say this. Battling so many....challenging @gmcuk @NHSEngland @RCPhysicians @AoMRC Putting reputation on the line, personal insults,…
Physician associates who assist doctors in GP surgeries and hospitals will now be known as assistants. Health Secretary Wes Streeting says this "better describes the role that they do". Read more ➡️ trib.al/aKsx2Nx
