I was today years old when I learnt that 'wild-type' is an adjective and 'wild type' is a noun. For all my years as a scientist I have been throwing them around interchangeably.
The 3-decade-old competition that enabled the emergence and evaluate of AlphaFold has run out of NIH funding. The program will be terminated in weeks. This is terminating success. science.org/content/articl…

We love generating data! But what should we do with it? We collaborated with the @jlistgarten on ProteinGuide - a new method for using experimental data to guide protein generative models. Congrats to @junhaobearxiong, Hunter, @MariaLukarska, @Ishan__Gaur and @loltrogge! ⬇️⬇️
Guide your favorite protein generative model with experimental data? Meet ProteinGuide - a method to condition pre-trained models on properties without retraining. We validated it both in silico by guiding ProteinMPNN and ESM3 on 3 tasks and in vitro by engineering base editors.
