It was @BMAResidents who invited Mr Streeting to talks months ago👇🏼 He ignored them Once doctors voted for strikes, he attacked them Now he’s pretending he wanted talks all along HMG and media spin machine is full tilt against doctors right now Doctors; stick together✊🏼
The Health Secretary Wes Streeting says he's 'pleased' the BMA have agreed to his offer of talks to try and avert strike action. 'If strikes go ahead everyone loses: Doctors lose, the NHS loses, patients lose, and the public loses,' said Streeting.
I get asked all the time if I feel guilty about striking. Truth is that I feel guilty for not valuing myself and my peers until 3 years ago. Because nobody else does. My bosses tell me to just get on with it. My friends have mostly left the country or the profession. I’m…

A dr on TikTok posted her payslip saying she earned £2.5k after tax and the comments?? One said she’s being greedy and another said £2.5k is a lot of money.
Resident doctors: gruellingly trained for at least 5 years, work nights, resus, trauma, death, despair. Pay: still £14–18/hour. Less than: - Dog groomers (£20/hr) – Personal trainers (£25/hr) – Tube drivers (£30–60/hr) – Private tutors (£30–50/hr) – Electricians (£25–45/hr) But…
Junior docs today earn barely more than I did in 1996 after I graduated med school. I did not have to pay tuition fees, parking charges and I was provided with hospital accommodation. Resident doctors are paid less than the PAs who assist them. #isupportthestrike
After a 28.9% pay rise thanks to a Labour government, patients and the public will be dismayed that the BMA is choosing to strike - and so am I. I have written to the BMA today reaffirming our preference to work together to improve their working lives and rebuild our NHS.
Residents doctors vote to STRIKE! Today, doctors have voted against all odds to strike again. This is a direct result of the Government's failure to keep its promises on pay. Time for @wesstreeting to meet us around the negotiating table and agree a path to restoring our pay.
Your voice, amplified by DoctorsVote has secured UK Graduate Prioritisation and proteced NHS IMGs. 20,000 doctors locked out of training this year, and only 1000 new jobs over three years. The Government needs to do more, the fight must go on. Return your ballot today!
Pepsi knows that the strike ballot is key to getting FPR (Feline Pay Restoration). Be like Pepsi: send your ballot back ASAP! 🐈⬛📝 Monday's the last day for residents in England to post it back to be sure of being included in the vote; don't leave it to the last minute... 📨⏩📮
Thanks Tom especially regarding the ballot. It’s so simple, even a cat can do it!
What’s the point of being a surgeon if you can operate without being one? @BAPRASvoice @PLASTAUK @ASiTofficial @RCSnews @wesstreeting Non doctor workforce in plastic surgery goes up, yet the number of doctor training posts goes down AHP Band 8a = £27.57/h Resident doctor doing…
A plastics PA Fortunately the PA podcast comes to the rescue to describe exactly why they won: - consenting - taking complex referrals including 3° - on call - carrying bleep - theatre & clinics @DrSarahClarke - is this replacing doctors? Is this safe for patients? 2/🧵
This is the standard that should be expected. All too often trainees get told: 1. There isn't time allocated to train 2. This is not a training case 3. There are enough people in the case already 4. The anaesthetist isn't happy 5. It's not in the consultant's contract to train…
Today our SHO opened and closed the abdomen, dissected out the AAA, did part of the distal anastomosis, closed the sac; and in the next case did a BKA all supervised by consultants. Training should be routine. Every list. @VascularWebinar @RouleauxClub
Media chants that doctors can’t get their pay cuts restored because: 1. It’s not economically viable 2. There’s no money in the pot 3. Other areas of the NHS will have to have cuts But never how £millions are blown on assistants replacing doctors. What is the agenda?
🚨 NEW: FOI response shows @NHSEngland has spent £62 million on training Physician Associates and Anaesthesia Associates over the last three years. £54.3m on PAs. £8m on AAs. 💰 They’re also directly funding salaries for PA and AA 'ambassadors' - £275k and counting
How much have Doctors and Nurses in the UK effectively subsidised the NHS by not having pay keep with inflation since 2008? The total amount and current annual amount Doctors x.com/i/grok/share/t…
Doctors are voting yes to strike. No money in the pot but £100,000,000s to spend on replacing doctors with non-doctors that: 1. Have no medical training 2. Start on £24/h (docs on £17/h) 3. Have had no high level evidence to show safety in practice 4. Require supervision 5.…
The NHS LTWP has committed to upscaling MAPs (despite lacking evidence in safety, let alone efficiency) to 10000 PAs & 2000 AAs by 2030. So how much more will this cost? An extra ~£430m/yr by 2030. £630m/yr on an untrained, unqualified workforce But no money to train doctors. 3/
This is something to cautiously celebrate. RDC has worked hard to lobby NHSE and the government to implement our policy for UKGraduate Prioritisation with protections for all IMGs currently in the country I will continue fighting for our members' right to access training.
Doctors who trained in Britain. 2006, but on steroids. No RDConf. No ARM. No democratic vote. Unilateral policy from the government. @wesstreeting backing UK graduates more than the BMA itself.
Dr Qasim has something that I have only seen in a very select type of consultant doctor. Consistency. His line has been unwavering when it comes to patient safety. Not only will he rise above the parapet, but he will shout until sense rings true. You have my full support.
It's my honour to stand for election as President of the @RCPhysicians - at a critical time for the RCP that may determine how physicians practise medicine for decades to come I will fight for the excellence in medicine + the highest standards in training and education…
