Update for new viewers of this pinned tweet. The AGM was indefinitely 'postponed' 24 hours before registration closed. We still plan to challenge the AGM whenever they hold it. Follow for updates, join LGBT+ Labour if you haven't already.
Today, our capital proudly marks seven years of London Trans+ Pride. As trans rights come under increasing pressure across the UK, this year’s march is a vital reminder: London is a city that stands for equality, dignity and pride - for everyone. 🏳️⚧️
A fantastic Happy Valley Pride event today. Fun, friendly and inclusive. Well done to all the organisers and volunteers who make it happen. I know there have been times in recent months when the LGBTQ+ community has felt let down by Labour in government. I hear your challenge…
The very fact that a gender-critical organisation such as @LabWomenDec endorses Ms Stephenson's appointment is clearly a concern not just to trans people but to all human rights advocates. @10DowningStreet @bphillipsonMP @AmnestyUK @libertyhq @ByDonkeys @Channel4News
"Bridget Phillipson... is set to overrule the women & equalities committee and the joint committee on human rights, whose members refused to endorse Stephenson as incoming chair of the EHRC" Sensible course of action by @10DowningStreet & @bphillipsonMP 1 thetimes.com/article/a7da1f…
@LGBTLabour still hasn’t sent us the Constitution after 140 days, but they had time to remove a member of the committee from their website after 20 minutes. It’s time to change LGBT+ Labour 🏳️⚧️ Join up now ready for their AGM: lgbtlabour.org.uk/lgbt_labour_fu…
It is legitimately sad to see how quickly the Secretary worked to remove Abe from the committee group chat and from our website. 20 minutes. He hasn't given us the constitution after asking 140 days ago, and it took him 20 minutes to reduce one of our best members to "vacant."
Solidarity to @Tim_Roca, who the anti-progressive Telegraph has decided to round on this weekend 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
We’d hoped to be at the @LGBTLabour AGM… but we went to the social instead. We urgently need an AGM and a democratic committee vote - it’s time to give members a proper choice 🏳️⚧️
If you haven’t already joined LGBT+ Labour, do it today: lgbtlabour.org.uk/lgbt_labour_fu… It’s time we took our organisation back 🏳️⚧️
Our statement on @LGBTLabour National Committee's decision to postpone the AGM. We fully intend to contest the LGBT+ Labour AGM. Trans rights are human rights 🏳️⚧️
So many questions left unanswered about the frankly shocking handling of LGBT+ Labour's AGM, which follows an unfortunate trend of LGBT+ Labour's Committee being unnecessarily opaque and unclear in how it makes decisions.
Why was this only realised so late? What materially changed between when the AGM was announced and yesterday that meant this had to be a last minute decision instead of something that could have actually been thought out and seriously discussed? Because from the outside it...
As your National Secretary, I will make the constitution available to all. That is, if the incumbent committee ever hands it over! We've been asking for months. Once again, they walk the blurry line between corruption and profound incompetence. Either way, they have to go.
Hi @LGBTLabour @Joe_DH @DavidBridson, my DMs are open for you to send across access to the LGBT+ Labour constitution. Members have been requesting it for some time now, and you've refused access. As members, we are entitled to see it. I'm waiting.
If it was a difficult legal decision, you’d have expected them to have made it *before* the AGM was announced, not 24 hours before registrations closed when their Committee positions were in danger of being lost…
🏳️🌈 New: @LGBTLabour has made the "difficult decision" to suspend its annual general meeting and committee elections, amid worries of legal action over trans candidates running for roles reserved for women. labourlist.org/2025/07/news-l…

All the same tropes that abounded in the media in the days of Section 28 are there. We are repeatedly told that trans people are mentally ill, that they are deviants, that they cannot be trusted around children; this is exactly how gay men were demonised in 1980s media. 2/5
We gays owe it to our trans siblings to defend their freedom in the same way that they have always defended ours. But if that doesn't convince you, know that the people funding the assault on trans rights are coming for gay rights as well. 5/5
Reading the hateful responses to the launch of our @transalliance25 slate, I'm struck by the extent to which many of them resemble old-school homophobia, of the kind that I've largely been able to avoid as a gay man lucky enough to have been born in 21st century Britain. 1/5
Thank you for the endorsement @NadiaWhittomeMP, you're an LGBT+ superstar and we're so happy to have your support 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ If you're an LGBT+ Labour member, register now for the AGM on Saturday 19th July.
🏳️🌈 Pride is a celebration of how far we’ve come, but it's also still a protest. We must never be complacent. LGBTQIA+ rights are still under attack. I'll always stand with our community. In Parliament and on the streets. 🏳️⚧️
