Doctors are not worth 21% less than in 2008. All that we are asking is for a new doctor to be paid £23/hr, which is still less than their assistants. Great to see so many doctors, NHS workers & members of the public supporting today! @wesstreeting the ball is in your court.
Strike picket outside the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham this morning. All that resident doctors are asking for is that a first year doctor gets £4 more an hour. @wesstreeting the power to stop the strikes is in your hands. Come forward with a credible offer.
I have great respect for Lord Winston and all he has done for medicine. So I am deeply disappointed that he is refusing to empathise with the broken front line doctors, driven to make the difficult decision to strike when all other measures have failed
Speaking to @DailyTPodcast, the veteran warns industrial action threatens patient safety and undermines confidence in healthcare services Read more here ⬇️ telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/07/2…
This makes no sense. Is there any other occupation where people with experience, training and qualifications don’t earn as much as colleagues with less experience and training, and lower qualifications?
This is key Trying to ignore the strikes, and talking about “breaking” doctors is all just bravado and exactly what the tories tried All disputes end around the negotiating table This is also the reason the chancellor said this last year, and she’d be absolutely right again👇🏼
The previous government wasted over £3,000,000,000 on junior doctor strikes — more than double the cost of settling their whole claim And this government is making the same mistake Failure to negotiate is costly
We have given the Government ample time to negotiate an end to the junior doctors’ strikes, but Parliament deserves an explanation about the absence of a deal and the serious risks to patient care and safety as a result. We will put our questions at 1030 this morning 👇🏻
Also confirmed: • Urgent question from @wesstreeting "To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care if he will make a statement on the impact of the junior doctors’ strikes and what steps he is taking to prevent further strike action."
💯 support for junior doctors. Paying a physicians assistant more than a doctor is abhorrent . Huge mistake by Wes Streeting
So if you and a doctor bought 10 bottles of champagne in 2018, the doctor (an essential member of society) would now be able to buy 7, while you (serving no function in society whatsoever) could get your grubby mitts on 23. But… (4/5)
How to tell if your appointment was cancelled due to a Doctors strike Answer you can’t On a average day in the NHS hospitals cancel 50,000 appts Strikes days affect 40,000 appts, apparently🤔 Blaming the Drs for a broken system is giving Management/Govt the excuse they want
I work in the NHS as a clinical support worker- I fully support Resident doctors - they work their asses off in very stressful situations. They deserve a decent salary for their level of education; professional responsibility and long hours worked.
Mike Graham grills BMA's resident doctors' committee co-chair Melissa Ryan on why she won't reveal her annual salary, despite going on strike over pay. "You're asking for taxpayers to fund your work... Of course your salary is bloody relevant - why are you hiding it?!" @iromg

As a GP, I am not allowed to receive a pen or post-it note pad from a pharmaceutical company rep Govt banned them in case I was influenced to prescribe medications This should also be banned Influence being bought in Govt Patients should influence not the healthy & wealthy
.@WesStreeting visited the @NHSEngland National Operations Centre this morning to thank staff across the country for everything they are doing to minimise disruption to patients from the BMA Resident Doctors' unnecessary strikes.

There is a deal to be done with junior doctors, if only we had a government willing to negotiate. With Labour, we will. We will start talks urgently, to end the chaos and begin to rebuild our NHS. thesun.co.uk/news/28845115/…
This is a clip from BMA ARM 2025, prior to Professor Leng's publication of her PA and AA review. The job titles have now been corrected, but the pay hasn't; we continue to have doctors supervising assistants, who earn more than the doctors they assist.
Astonishing that not a single Health minister was prepared to go on @BBCr4today to explain their abysmal failure to avert junior doctors’ strikes. Rishi Sunak says he “wouldn’t want to get in the middle of” NHS pay disputes. Patients are suffering as a result of his cowardice.
When @wesstreeting says he is angry on behalf of other NHS staff about the strikes of resident doctors, I just want to put it out there I’m not angry and I’m fully supportive of them fighting!
Deafening silence from the Health Secretary following the news that consultants have voted to strike. This is an unmitigated disaster of the Government’s making that threatens to add to more than 650,000 cancelled and delayed operations and appointments. Wake up Silent Steve!
I am currently in hospital awaiting surgery following some investigation. I have been here since Tuesday. I just want to declare that I fully support the resident doctors in their quest for fair pay restoration.
Inaction Man Streeting. All mouth. No motion. @BMAResidents strike for our future. We want the NHS to be there when it's needed
For millions of patients, the NHS is no longer there for them when they need it. Rishi Sunak is Inaction Man, refusing to meet with doctors to end NHS strikes and adding to the Tories' NHS backlog. It will take Labour - the Party of the NHS - to restore it to good health.
