Main reason for issues over pay is that Tories failed to maintain pay instead letting it fall 20-35% Labour wouldn’t be in dispute I wonder what the gain is from keeping pay of all NHS staff lower, as retention of UK trained staff becomes a huge problem leading to worse care
If you're around 35 or under in the UK, the government has never made anything better for you. Tuition fees brought in, stagnating wages from frozen tax brackets etc. An entire adult life of austerity with another decade ahead
The Daily Mail's parent company, Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT), has been set up through an offshore entity based in Bermuda to avoid paying tax in the UK and Jonathan Harmsworth, 4th Viscount Rothermere, the owner of the Daily Mail avoids tax.
There has been a lot of discussion of doctors’ pay progression in the NHS, arguing this is a valid reason as to why F1 doctors are paid 30% less than newly qualified Physician Assistants (less medically qualified and capable than F1s throughout their career) See image below 1/
Want to see a new world an support the left? Here are some things you can do: 1) Join a union 2) If you are in a union, get active 3) join the Green party, or sign up for the new left wing party It's time to end this neoliberal culture capitalist nightmare. Up the workers ✊
The market won’t commit to economic security for the people it extracts labor from, but we expect people to commit to kids who require economic security to raise? Does the sociological math here register? Or have we all been too conditioned by economic ideology to comprehend it?
Don't study economics at university. What they teach is empirically false garbage. In just 9 simple points, let me explain why... and what to study instead. (1) Textbooks claim firms face "rising marginal costs" (making more = higher costs per unit). But 89% of real companies…
The Laffer Curve is a facile statement of the bleeding obvious - there comes a point where a marginal tax rate increase actually reduces the total tax take. It may well happen at a top rate of 85%. We are miles behind that. But the simpletons love to refer to it.
You have fully lost doctors at this point @wesstreeting Our assistants are paid £10K more than us - until that is not the case, your words mean nothing
"We did not need to be in this position. These strikes were unnecessary." @WesStreeting explains why 👇 Watch his message to NHS staff continuing to work during strikes.
Some basics. The US Dollar is a tax credit. It is a unit of measure. You can't run out of inches You can't run out of numbers The government can't run out of dollars... unless it purposely, politically chooses to. Thread 1/x
This tweet has probably been liked 10,000 times, only for X to remove likes and retweets over and over and over again. Why is that? Because the powers that be do not want you to understand how our nations monetary system actually works.

I have one or two gripes with #MMT - modern monetary theory - regarding issues such as imports/exports, the nature of state-funded jobs and the power of the global markets. However, when it stays in its lane, its description of how the current fiat money system works is…
Is taxpayers' money just a myth? youtu.be/mqSBiLfcNS4?si… In this video, I explain why your taxes do not fund government spending, how government money is actually created, and why the taxpayer's money myth exists to serve an agenda of austerity.
What do we do about our $36 Trillion National Debt? On our latest @TheMiddle_Show episode, economist @StephanieKelton of @stonybrooku says we should stop worrying about it so much. Full show on the podcast: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/how…
Hard to believe this is a “Labour” government at all isn’t it. From what I can tell, about 80% of their decisions punch down at ordinary working people.
Utterly disgraceful remarks from @wesstreeting These doctors are the backbone of our NHS Their real pay is down 20% compared to 2008 It's time they were treated with the respect and dignity they deserve
What nonsense is this? Resident doctors voted for strike action in a democratic ballot. Their demand for pay restoration is fair, reasonable and necessary. Solidarity with @TheBMA members
Keir Starmer: Junior doctors should break ranks with the BMA leadership thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…
Well this is awkward. Hypocrites attack Hippocrates. #LabourInNameOnly
Keir Starmer: Resident doctors should break ranks with the BMA leadership. The industrial action that starts on Friday is in no one’s interests and medics should not follow their union down its dangerous and destructive route, he says. thetimes.com/article/3fdcd5…
I don’t think Corbyn was Starmer’s enemy. But Starmer clearly thought he was. Today though, he may be ruing the day he didn’t heed the saying: “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer”.
