Come and see me in late summer into autumn - talking about my new book - and the empire that never fell... I'm touring all around Britain so hopefully landing somewhere near you for one of the shows! alice-roberts.co.uk/tour

Extraordinary story of Sir Paul Nurse about what a prof @unibirmingham did for him when he tried to get into uni. As a staff member for 32 yrs, I can say proudly that the story's inkeeping w/ my experience of the length this uni is prepared to go for deserving young ppl.(fr 52')
How amazing to have Nobel Prize winner Sir Paul Nurse as a special guest at one of our graduation ceremonies! 🎓 Sir Paul is an alumnus of this Uni (BSc Biology). His work transformed the world's knowledge of cell biology & it's application to medicine ⏯️ youtube.com/live/v84dZIeio…
Mark Gatiss: "I'm not a fascist... but I'm terrified that we're drifting towards it... & it's coming as the village bobby with a smile... It's Mr Toad in a pair of pink corduroys."
Desperately sad. We have the means to protect children - but with vaccination rates dropping to their lowest in 10 years, so many are at risk.
🚨 EXCLUSIVE: A child has died after contracting measles in Liverpool, where public health officials fear a growing outbreak of the disease. Full story: thetimes.com/article/bb286d…
I still don’t know how we are letting this happen. It’s utterly heartrending. Those poor children.
A British surgeon working in Gaza says he is concerned over the pattern of injuries he's seen in those brought to hospital from aid distribution centres. Dr Nick Maynard tells @annaefoster about the injuries he is treating. #R4Today
I’ve spent a fascinating day digging into the archives at Bart’s Hospital - learning about 17th century surgery - and discovering a new word, to me: “sphacelus”. This is all for a new series on the history of medicine - so I’ll be sharing all this and much more with you in the…

How does anyone take this shit seriously?
Graham Hancock is right. Mankind is a species with amnesia. We have been here many times before, we suffer from a collective amnesia. Afforded to us by the many resets, and the parasites that have altered and destroyed all surviving records. It is estimated that anatomically…

Sun, sea, showers and the actual coast path; baby lobsters and Rick Stein scampi; a pebble city and a Japanese Garden; hanging out (though not hanging ten - too messy this time!) with family & friends. Back to filming & writing on Monday! I’m making four series for your…

This guy 👇has called me a 'clueless critic' because I have doubts about the Polish painter Jacek Malczewski. Now I'm as patriotic as the next Pole, but if you can't see the problem with these Malczewski 'self-portaits' you need help. Lots of it. Amen!
A very talented painter, should be better known. Sorolla exhibition at the NG was great, they should have one for Jacek. Shows how wrong clueless critics are.
You only have to go back a couple of hundred years and parents - reasonably and realistically - expected half their children to die before reaching adulthood. You throw away the benefits of modern medicine - including vaccines - and you go back to that era. Children are…
As we all look back at #LiveAid40, I would like to tell the story of my experience as a 20yo attending the Wembley show on 13 July 1985. These are never-before seen photos, taken on my Canon A1 with a 50mm lens from my position centre front in the crowd 🧵
I love making art - here are some of my digital paintings, available as giclee prints: alice-roberts.co.uk/prints

Here's a link to a film A LONG TIME AGO about how and when the Mona Lisa became famous. youtube.com/watch?v=YRPwbd…
I believe when The Mona Lisa was stolen a major New York newspaper published a different painting in the report. It wasn't famous back in 1911.
With the Bayeux Tapestry in the news, it’s time to resurrect this absolute classic of historical re/enactments.
