A foggy view from the Duquesne Incline in #Pittsburgh a few weeks ago. The sun gave the haze and fog around the city this pinkish glow which made it look like something out of a movie behind the incline.
119 deaths means the Texas floods have surpassed Agnes to become the fifth deadliest fresh-water (rain induced) flood disaster since 1969. Hard to overstate how much this catastrophe is changing the way I see modern flood vulnerability
I have finally put together my thoughts on the enormity of Friday morning's Texas flood. Mostly it is a meditation on the historical context of such a hyper-local flood killing 104 people, something that really hasn't happened in nearly 50 years.

I am pretty confident of 8 USA landfalling May-June hurricanes in the early to mid 19th century in roughly a same time period. #HurricaneSeason #hurricane
Devastating Derecho: The statues of Paul Bunyan & Babe the Blue Ox stood strong as winds stronger than a CAT 1 Hurricane hammered the community of Bemidji, MN just after midnight this morning. Bemidji Regional Airport clocked winds hitting 106MPH! #MNwx
Imagine being a settler in the 1800s and having this thing just yeet itself at you in the middle of the night on an open prairie. How would you even be able to describe this in a journal?
HOLY COW look at this close up view of the Enderlin, ND tornadic storm.
