@WFP_Tanzania welcomed UK Parliamentarians from @APPGNutrition and @UnitedAMH to Kibasila Primary School to see how our clean cooking transition in schools project is helping schools shift from traditional firewood stoves to safer electric pressure cookers. 🌿
Deeply saddened to learn of death of @davidnabarro, a colleague from my UN years who advised UNSG Ban Ki-moon on how to deal with pandemics, global food insecurity, climate issues & more. David was a dedicated international public servant. His voice of reason will be missed. RIP.
What’s a sad morning news to learn the passing of the Food Systems Icon @davidnabarro our friend. Just spoken to @Florence
The appalling scenes in Gaza are unrelenting. The UK will pull every lever we have to get food and lifesaving support to Palestinians, and we will evacuate children who need urgent medical assistance. This humanitarian catastrophe must end.
Enough. Gaza is starving. Ceasefire now. We must save as many lives as we can – and we have a plan. My update to UN Member States on the steps necessary to stop this horror👇 unocha.org/considerations…
Previous governments sought a trade deal with India. They could not agree one. The Labour Government negotiated and agreed the deal, signed today. It will benefit the UK economy and give us access to a huge market, growing in power and prosperity. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Labour is standing up for working people in Exeter 👇
The suffering and starvation unfolding in Gaza is unspeakable and indefensible.

We stand with healthcare workers in Gaza who are doing lifesaving work in most unimaginably challenging and horrific circumstances. Tedros and his team have my full support.
Thank you, Health Secretary @wesstreeting, for reaching out today and for your support for @WHO colleagues in #Gaza and our lifesaving work. We need Member States’ help to ensure we can access health facilities and deliver health aid.
Karibuni Tanzania 🇹🇿 Excited to welcome UK Member of Parliament to Zanzibar! @UNICEFTanzania and the Government of #Zanzibar are transforming lives through health and nutrition services for women and children at the community level!
Grateful to @UnitedAMH and partners for the Why Nutrition is Foundational to UK Development Aims exhibition in Parliament last week! We remain committed to tackling malnutrition #SDG2 🌍 The Global Compact is key to achieving this by driving cross-sector nutrition action 🥕🥦
This week @AAH_UK @ConcernUK @OneAcreFund @MSF_uk @UnitedAMH are coordinating a photographic exhibition in @UKParliament sponsored by our Co-Chair @DavidMundellDCT to show how investment in nutrition can improve security, gender equality, global health, and climate resilience 👇
Good to see our local MP @steveracemp sign this letter ahead of the Lioness’s semi-final match this evening. Jess Carter has experienced appalling racism and we stand with her and all players facing racism and misogyny
In just 3 HOURS, 91 MPs have joined my call on the major social media companies to take serious action to combat the appalling racism and misogyny directed at Jess Carter that they have allowed to be espoused on their platforms They need to act. Here is our call on them to do so
My final contribution before Parliament rises tonight, speaking in the debate on the devastating and human-induced humanitarian crisis in #Sudan
In today's Westminster Hall debate on Sudan's catastrophic humanitarian crisis, Co-Chair @steveracemp raised the unprecedented severity of levels of food insecurity and malnutrition and asked how @FCDOGovUK can help ensure sustained delivery of and access for life-saving aid 👇
Great news that @Hospiscare in #Exeter is receiving a grant of over half a million pounds for infrastructure development, from the £100m grant to hospices in the UK.
Hospices play a vital role in our society and I'm proud that this government is investing a further £75 million for hospices across the country. This will deliver vital upgrades to facilities and buildings, ensuring patients receive care in the best possible environment.
Great to have the opportunity to commend the work of @ExeterCollege and #Exeter Maths School, two of our outstanding FE colleges, in #education questions yesterday. We’re lucky to have these institutions in the city - and I’m working with both to secure the investment they need.
In memory of my sister Margaret, we launched a Glioblastoma drug trial. Now, Margaret’s Trial is open on the NHS - and offering real hope. Ben, diagnosed with a Glioblastoma in 2022, saw his tumour vanish. His story helped make this happen. Watch here:
Very good news.
