Stephen Kinnock
@SKinnock
Labour MP for Aberafan Maesteg 🌹 Minister of State for Care covering adult social care, primary care, and community care in England.
With Parliament entering recess, a moment to reflect on a busy year in the Department of Health and Social Care. We inherited a shambles from previous government, but step-by-step we're turning things round. Credit to my @DHSCgovuk team for their hard work helping turn the tide

We're taking action to make sure patients can access an NHS dentist when they need it - starting with the areas of greatest need. We're delivering 700,000 extra appointments, and ensuring the NHS dental budget is actually spent - which remarkably wasn't the case under last govt!
It was brilliant to see our 10 Year Health Plan in action last week, at the launch of the first 24/7 neighbourhood mental health centre. Thank you for having me along @NHS_ELFT. We're working together to put patients first and get the NHS fit for the future.

What the Tories and Reform put at risk with their anti-clean energy rhetoric: 💷£83bn added to the economy in 2024 👩🔧Almost a million jobs across the UK 🏴100,000 Scottish jobs 🏗️22,800 businesses - 94% SMEs They are bad for jobs, bad for investment, bad for energy security.
In memory of my sister Margaret, we launched a Glioblastoma drug trial. Now, Margaret’s Trial is open on the NHS - and offering real hope. Ben, diagnosed with a Glioblastoma in 2022, saw his tumour vanish. His story helped make this happen. Watch here:
'We are calling for a revolution in the sector. Tinkering around at the edges isn't going to be enough,' Flooding Minister Emma Hardy MP tells Sky News as an industry review recommends abolishing Ofwat and introducing compulsory water meters. trib.al/KMSzNPk
Hospices play a vital role in our society and I'm proud that this government is investing a further £75 million for hospices across the country. This will deliver vital upgrades to facilities and buildings, ensuring patients receive care in the best possible environment.

We’re on the side of British industry. That’s why we’re wasting no time in pushing ahead with our plans to tackle energy costs for businesses, with landmark support that is the cornerstone of our Modern Industrial Strategy.

Through our 10 Year Health Plan we are modernising pharmacy services by giving technicians more responsibility, allowing pharmacists more time for clinical care. This is common sense reform with safety at its core - meaning shorter waiting times and better access for patients.
Pharmacies are vital to the shift from hospitals to communities in our 10 Year Health Plan. @SKinnock visited Borsdane Avenue Pharmacy, Wigan, as we announce our plans to free up pharmacists to deliver more frontline clinical care. Find out more ⬇️ gov.uk/government/new…

Everybody who needs access to urgent and unscheduled dental care must be able to access it. Dentists must be incentivised and motivated to deliver NHS dentistry, so that every penny allocated for NHS dentistry is spent on NHS dentistry. My recent comments to @CommonsHealth:
"It's not too late even at this late stage for us to get back on the path that I wanted us to be on of working together." @WesStreeting makes clear why the BMA's resident doctors committee must change their approach 👇
I recently met with key dental care professionals on challenges they face within NHS dentistry and listened to suggestions to address these. Through our planned reforms patients will find it easier to get urgent care, with dentists delivering more NHS work.

A bittersweet moment for our community - hugely challenging for those who've suffered through the transition, but also proof Port Talbot will maintain its proud tradition as a state-of-the-art steelmaking town: always at the cutting edge of new tech, delivering high quality jobs.
A new era of steelmaking in Port Talbot begins today. Supported by £500m from UK Government, work starts on the construction of @tatasteelUK’s electric arc furnace, securing 5,000 jobs and steel production in the town for generations to come.
Here's what the @UKLabour Government and I have been up to in Westminster on behalf of Aberafan Maesteg this week.
