Lovely day for Roadshow at Cheltenham on 22.7.25 for @Gloscricket v @lancscricket - with a big crowd and plenty of good cricket. At lunch & tea popped into tent with @CricketSociety Glitterati for cricket discussions hosted by incomparable #stephenchalke

Cheltenham Festival: Lots of Cricket Societies represented at fine event organised by #stephenchalke & #chriscoley who talked to the great & the good of cricket including @butcher_roland @AnnieChave #vicmarks & others. At the same time a tight battle on the pitch #glocsvlancs
Thank you @EwhurstCricket for a really good game on 23.7.25 - they reached 283/8 in 40 overs & then @cricketsocxi reached 277/7 in 40. Brilliant century (142) for #davidfarrington who kept us in the game. Good wicket & a very decent tea. @CricketSociety

I had a great day out at @cricket_s_trust ‘s hosting of the @TheRootAcademy 4th annual state school finals held at @KimboltonSchool - what a fine display of cricket at every level. It was good to meet the force of nature @GaywoodNick who does so much for cricket in many ways.

@cricketsocxi ‘s only Saturday game but what a place to play at Warnford in the Meon Valley v #hampshirehogs - we got 244/5 and Hogs closed at 210/7 - terrific game between two well matched sides. @CricketSociety
@cricket_s_trust ran a superb event on 17.7 at @KimboltonSchool hosting the @TheRootAcademy annual state school finals. Great credit to all the schools who participated & performed so well. The U15 Final was won by @BishopStopford1 whose players were of a v high standard.
More photos of @cricket_s_trust ‘s fine event hosting the @TheRootAcademy state schools finals at @KimboltonSchool - well done #geoffhastings @GaywoodNick @cricketsocxi @CricketSociety - it was an inspiring day. #80thisyear
Many thanks to @CapelCricketsy for a great day on Sunday 13th July. A beautiful location and such a smart, well maintained ground with a buzzing pavilion, all in a small Surrey village. As for the result @cricketsocxi scored 251/7 & then bowled out the home team for 113.
.#ENGvIND is a delicious, unfolding plot. @klrahul feels key, plus Pant, but there's depth in Jadeja & Sundar & a lively wicket. 2 men for the job: KL & Stokes. So well poised. @cricket_broken @cricket_badger @justnotcrkpod @CricSubhayan @BoothCricket #bbccricket @CricketSociety
A game where #BenStokes brought his heroic quality, closely matched by #Jadeja 👏 #ENGvIND so finely poised & turning on fine margins that demand the smart #TestCricket we've desired. #bbccricket @CricketSociety @peterhardy51 @cricket_broken @henrymoeranBBC @willis_macp @huwzat
Ben Stokes is player of the match for his 77 runs, five wickets and a crucial run out
It was a late one last night so I didn’t post my report from the 5th T20. Also contains a bit of reflection on the series as a whole. theguardian.com/sport/2025/jul…
The popular belief that it requires raw pace to win a Test series in Australia is also not supported by evidence. When England won there in 2010-11, their attack consisted of fast-medium rather than express bowlers. In 1986-87, Graham Dilley was fast but he wasn't their best…
A good example of how to mislead with statistics on the Sky coverage of England and India this morning. They showed a chart of average bowler speeds for England's pace attack. The charts started at 80mph which showed Archer's bar twice as high as the others whereas his speed is…
Many thanks to @KewCricketClub for hosting @cricketsocxi last Sunday. We came away with a win 231/6 playing 145/9 beating the weather in a 35 over game reduced from 40. @CricketSociety

Let’s get behind a top class CC that can continue to produce the best players for English test cricket, the biggest driver of revenue for our great game. The Blast needs a re-launch with a slightly minimised schedule to let us sell out grounds nationwide.
