Doctors' assistants are earning almost 47% more than a fully qualified doctor in London. Even with full pay restoration, doctors would still be earning less than their assistants. Paying doctors £22.67/hr would still be a bargain for this country.
A PA Lecturer comment on Linked In. Interesting that she feels patients couldn’t want more than feeling listened to. Personally, I want deep knowledge and expertise in medicine applied to the context of ‘me’, given all bodies are different. I don’t want tick-box nods and smiles.

How to tell if your appointment was cancelled due to a Doctors strike Answer you can’t On a average day in the NHS hospitals cancel 50,000 appts Strikes days affect 40,000 appts, apparently🤔 Blaming the Drs for a broken system is giving Management/Govt the excuse they want
I’m supporting @TheBMA Because trying to fix the NHS without improving pay & conditions for health/social care workers is like trying to refill a bath without the plug Recruitment, retention, burnout - this is the crisis Resident doctors deserve better. So does every patient
Doctors DON’T have a final salary pension Doctors DON’T get their exams paid for Doctors DON’T get overtime Doctors DON’T get their equipment paid for Doctors DO pay for their own training Doctors DO pay for their own stationary Doctors DO earn less now than 2008 in real terms
"There is no such thing as a free lunch" Wes thinks that tea and a cold sandwich will make up for the fact that he pays Doctors Assistants £10,000 more than actual Doctors 🤣 Strike hard
EXCL: Wes Streeting’s offer to the BMA in full - including cheaper lunches! This is what the doctors’ union rejected in favour of strikes: thesun.co.uk/news/politics/…
Boomsplaining that "medicine is a vocation" to people on far worse T&Cs than you enjoyed is so offensive
1/ Kate Matharu, a GP of 25 years, told The Guardian that resident doctors striking “harms patients” and that people who put finances first “shouldn’t be in the profession.” We should talk about why this perspective is deeply flawed.
What was Wes Streeting’s offer to doctors who are paid 30% less than their assistants? It was 30% off a sandwich. 🤡 He’s now threatening to do NOTHING to find jobs for the thousands of unemployed doctors, out of spite. If the county can’t afford doctors, it can’t afford…
Dear resident doctors…
If you are a doctor and are proud to stand behind our chairs @Melissa_S_Ryan and @RossNieuwoudt like and repost this message.
Keir Starmer: Resident doctors should break ranks with the BMA leadership. The industrial action that starts on Friday is in no one’s interests and medics should not follow their union down its dangerous and destructive route, he says. thetimes.com/article/3fdcd5…
I'm fed up with seeing journalist paid over £200+ per hour call Doctors greedy for asking for £22 per hour for saving lives. Without doctors we have no NHS. A win for doctors is a win for all. It's not about turning out eachother. We need solidarity. #JoinStrikeWin
Disgusting for @wesstreeting to state that doctors show disdain for patients when his Government alone has the power to resource the NHS appropriately but chooses not to It’s his ‘reform’ read dismantling of the NHS that shows complete disdain for NHS patients and democracy
Health and Social Care Secretary @WesStreeting responds to the BMA confirming Resident Doctor strikes will go ahead on Friday 👇

On behalf of everyone with columns to write during the bleak, newsless, summer recess may I once again put on record our thanks to NHS Fife for all they continue to do.
The NHS isn’t broken because of doctors or nurses. It’s broken because it’s being bled dry by clipboards, consultants, and DEI commissars who never see a ward. Thousands of managers on six-figure salaries, while pensioners rot in A&E corridors. Diversity officers outnumber…
Sounds like good time management and workload scheduling to me
We do this in the Practice I work Occasionally have couple of extra pts Weoften sort multiple issues in one consult & that reduces pressure on appointments. We are doing really well with access. We don’t have any PAs or ACPs, only supervise GPRs & Med students
“…in today’s NHS, the risk is not misconduct - it is noticing.” And therein lies the nub of its problems, be they cultural, organisational or process. Avoid, deflect, pretend. For which of course you need an army of staff. Puts a whole new meaning to ‘non value adding’.
Day 4 | PM Session | Peggie v NHS Fife & Dr Upton 🧾 “Spiteful Tittle-Tattle”: A Manager’s Admission of Ignorance, and an Institution’s Abdication of Duty The afternoon cross-examination of Charlotte Myles stripped away any illusion that Sandy Peggie’s suspension had been based…
And? Water companies have fleeced us for £84,000,000,000 of our money. Personally I think that's worth have a row over.
It would be wrong to scrap the pensions triple lock to cover the cost of spiralling welfare. Pensioners on fixed incomes shouldn’t pay the price for a broken system.
This is what will happen to privatised healthcare @wesstreeting @NHSuk @DHSCgovuk Wealth extraction on an industrial scale. But don’t worry, a few well- placed people will have impressive bank balances, and doubtless a few gongs will be ‘earned’.
The sad reality, I expect, is that the lack of competence of individuals “running” NHS Fife will be mirrored in most, if not all, public sector organisations across Scotland. We used to be a serious country. thetimes.com/uk/scotland/ar…
Physician associate claims to have attended ‘medical school’ and studied 80% of graduate medicine in 2 yrs EIGHTY PERCENT! Is this what you’re teaching your PA students @CityStGeorges @CityStG_Health ?
