Legal Feminist
@legalfeminist
18 angry women and a blog. http://www.legalfeminist.org.uk/
There will be a great deal of this, and it will be infuriating. More employees will lose their jobs for trying to persuade their employers to comply with the law.
Anyone else utterly infuriated by organisations’ unwillingness to withdraw/amend their unlawful policies NOW? How are we going to make them realise this is not negotiable? @EHRC @akuareindorf @SexMattersOrg @legalfeminist
Wait til the Supreme Court realise they missed the Equality and Human Rights Commission Act. thetimes.com/article/3bc4f0…
Ouch.
Part 2 of my analysis of the Good Law Project's judicial review of the EHRC Interim Update following For Women Scotland: knowingius.org/p/is-the-ehrc-…
This really is a very peculiar plot-twist. It's hard to think of any sensible reason why GLP would redact the names of its barristers. What's that about?
Also, somewhat oddly, the Good Law project has redacted the names of its legal team members in publishing the facts and grounds.
Helpful thread on Caster Semenya's "win" before the European Court of Human Rights. Obviously men shouldn't be allowed to compete as women on condition they suppress their testosterone. No-one should be encouraged to self-harm, and men shouldn't be competing as women anyway.
Remember, nothing will turn on the outcome. Semenya should 'win' given males with DSDs should not be required to suppress testosterone to compete in female sport. But that will not change the @WorldAthletics decision to exclude them from female sport categories altogether.
Happy birthday to us!

Soooooo - any Co-op Bank employees follow me and feel hacked off by this? DM
Leaked by an employee of the Co-operative Bank UK. An all-staff message pledging allegiance to “trans and non-binary colleagues” following the Supreme Court judgment. They also confirm that staff can continue to use the toilets that align with their “gender identity”.
In which TT apologises for publishing a redacted document provided by the ET on the assumption that redactions had been competently done.
Our sincere apologies. We had published links to the redacted documents as provided by the Employment Tribunal. A reader spotted that some of the redactions were not properly done, and text could be read through the black line. 1/x
Melanie Field was not the first person to learn the hard way the unwisdom of underestimating Maya. No doubt she will not be the last.
In January 2023 making the arguments that would eventually win out in the Supreme Court 😊 (and being dismissed by Melanie Field of EHRC)
SEEN in Sport website launched! An invaluable resource for anyone who cares about the integrity of sport.
Despite the widespread misinformation suggesting that the implications of FWS are "obscure" or "complex", organisations that find themselves at the pointy end of follow-up litigation are starting to see sense.
💥The Supreme Court's reasoning that S.9(3)GRA applies to other legislation wherever applying S.(1) would result in "clear incompatibility or because its provisions are rendered incoherent or unworkable " applies to the law on police searching. Here is the sealed order where…
