Keir Starmer: Resident doctors should break ranks with the BMA leadership. The industrial action that starts on Friday is in no one’s interests and medics should not follow their union down its dangerous and destructive route, he says. thetimes.com/article/3fdcd5…
Doctors are PAID LESS THAN THEIR ASSISTANTS This is why strikes are NECESSARY Have you got it yet? @wesstreeting #DoctorsStrikes #PayRestoration
Doctors DON’T have a final salary pension Doctors DON’T get their exams paid for Doctors DON’T get overtime Doctors DON’T get their equipment paid for Doctors DO pay for their own training Doctors DO pay for their own stationary Doctors DO earn less now than 2008 in real terms
Morning Kemi, you studied computer science, do some data analysis on these pay graphs, the actions of your party from 2008-2023 are entirely responsible for this.
We fully support resident doctors in their fight for #PayRestoration Consultants in England – read our guidance on working during strike action bma.org.uk/our-campaigns/…
At today's RDC meeting, we’ve voted to go ahead with strike action. Last week when we met @wesstreeting we were open to finding solutions to restore pay and improve working conditions. Today, we still do not have a credible offer on the table @Melissa_S_Ryan @RossNieuwoudt
Our Centre for Perioperative Care @CPOC_News has curated a set of resources to support good working culture in the perioperative team. The resources will help individuals & organisations improve behaviours & support staff retention & patient safety. 👉ow.ly/p87r50Wtg75
Full support to Resident Doctors in England. You are all worth more than what this Labour govt is offering. Years of studying , long hard hours and pay freezes - it's time for change to this broken system if the public want this NHS to survive
I have voted YES to put my trade union in a position to negotiate fairer pay and career progression for all SAS doctors. #SASdoctors #SASPay #Specialists

Consultants and SAS doctors in England - look out for your indicative ballot email from @TheBMA today! Wes Streeting called pay restoration "a journey, not an event" - so why have we stopped? Are you prepared to stand up to demand your value is recognised by the government?

The Leng Review of the PA and AA roles lays bare catastrophic failures in NHS leadership that have put patients at serious risk of harm. But unfortunately its recommendations do not adequately protect patients. 🔗 Full response: bma.org.uk/bma-media-cent…
Forgot to mention, you may want to look up 'entitlement', our pay and pension is well and truly earnt & indeed the campaign is simply about restoring it in value against cost of living in the way that has already occurred for the average worker.
Yes they are. For years I paid 14.5% of my own pay, recently 12.5% as scheme is £billions in positive balance per year. As a resident myself I worked 90 hr weeks where after the first 40 hrs I was paid 1/3 normal rate as the pension was my deferred pay. I’ve well and truly paid.
Mike @trentconsultant you are so correct @TheBMA @BMAResidents it is interesting every health minister says the same but all they achieve is dragging it down. Doctors now must take a stand and not be distracted from #payrestoration the start of bringing back the glory of NHS
As a consultant I was asked to do weekend long waiter lists. When I looked at what the trust would pay me after tax and compared it to what my decorator wanted to be paid - I decided it was cheaper for me to paint my windows rather than operate.
.@BMAResidents asked @wesstreeting in May for talks, and he ignored them until after they balloted for strikes Then he had the audacity to lie about them “refusing to meet” Now he’s doing the same to @BMA_Consultants So who’s the unreasonable negotiating partner here?!
It’s worth noting consultants have written to the secretary of state asking for a meeting too, we’ve been completely ignored without even a reply so far.
