I am excited to share our new work that generates a single cell eQTL atlas for immune cell types. The work integrates bulk eQTLs with sc-eQTLs, which boosts the power for identifying sc-eQTLs for up to 4 folds. As such, we have the power equivalent to sc-RNASeq of 4K individuals.

Huge thanks to everyone who supported this work- especially the brilliant and twitterless (X-less?) Dr. Matthew Coates, @dajiangliu81, as well as @PennStHershey, @PennStGastroHep, @OslerResidency, and @OslerPSP. Grateful for your guidance and collaboration throughout 🙏
A nice article covering our work! Thanks @HealioRheum for the coverage!

2⃣The biggest problem in deriving sc-eQTLs is that scRNAseq is expensive and thus such datasets small. By combining bulk-tissue eQTLs with sc-eQTLs, a new method increases sc-eQTL detection by almost 6x and statistical power by 3.5x❗️ 7/9
I am thrilled to share one of the most important projects from my PhD! We developed the method JOBS (JOint model of Bk-eQTLs as a weighted sum of Sc-eQTLs) and applied it to blood bulk (eQTLGen) and sc-eQTL (OneK1K). 1/3

a single-author paper by @MengjieChen6. Kudos for a busy PI.

I really thought this was a joke or troll when I first saw it. WOW!
BREAKING: The Dallas Mavericks are trading Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick, sources tell @ShamsCharania. Three-team deal that includes Utah.
I am only slightly better and can use word and endnote really well, as well.
As a PI, most of my lab skills have deteriorated. I barely know how to do anything in the lab, but I'm pretty good at multi-factor authentication, paperwork, electronic signatures... I also tell myself that I'm good at thinking about the big picture, whatever that means.
At this point of his career, only winning majors matters. To do so, @DjokerNole has to beat Alcaraz (already done), Zverev, and likely Sinner, the top 3 players of last year. Kind of unthinkable. But who knows.
He's built different. 😤 Novak Djokovic prevails in a thrilling four-set quarterfinal encounter against Carlos Alcaraz! 👏 @wwos • @espn • @eurosport • @wowowtennis • #AusOpen • #AO2025
I think part of it is that there are so many journals now and it has become a lot easier to publish somewhere. Many applicants, even before grad school, have papers, and some are first author papers. That is very rare in the days when I was an applicant.
Everyone says “Today’s PhD students are so accomplished I wouldn’t have gotten in today” as if it’s a good thing. It’s not. There are amazing young scientists out there today. But grad admissions is ignoring wide swaths of them because it’s been infected with the same…
I’m thrilled to share that a piece of my Ph.D work @BioinformPSU on predicting disease progression risk from preclinical states is now published in @NatureComms . I’m deeply grateful for all the guidance and encouragement from my wonderful advisor @dajiangliu81

Excited to share a part of my PhD thesis! We developed a novel method to predict the risk of progression from pre-clinical to clinical disease for SLE and RA. So thankful to my co-first author @ChenWang_PSU and mentors @dajiangliu81 and Dr. Bibo Jiang
