Absolutely fantastic work spearhead by the proteomics wizard @FabianFrommelt !
Do you want to know with which proteins an SLC membrane transporter socializes? Our @RESOLUTE_IMI series of 4 manuscripts continues, and we are excited to share the so far most comprehensive interactome mapping of solute carriers biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
We have another postdoc position open for phage engineering against ESKAPE pathogens. Feel free to ping me for more information: #phage #microbiology #postdoc ki.varbi.com/en/what:job/jo…
Another #postdoc position in our lab to work on #phage-inspired #antimicrobials. Follow-up for more info via dm or email. ki.varbi.com/what:job/jobID…
I am (slowly) moving to the bluer side. Find me at afossati.bsky.social
PhD opportunity in our lab to work on host-pathogen interactions in drug-resistant Mtb. Focus on immunology, proteomics and bioinformatics. Stellar co-supervisors team with @lukas_k, Susanna Brighenti and yours truly. RT and reach out for more info! kidoktorand.varbi.com/en/what:job/jo…
Did you know that phage can inject DNA, many proteins, recruit host membrane/membrane proteins and assemble a lipid vesicle to protect the genome?@MozumdarDeepto led this effort with contributions from a large multi-disciplinary team. @cellhostmicrobe sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
The phiKZ jumbo phages build a protein based nucleus to protect their DNA(!), but what do they do before the nucleus is built? Led by outstanding post-doc @MozumdarDeepto, here we identify host and phage proteins in an immediate early phage lipid vesicle. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Great opportunity in Lund within the @scilifelab DDLS network for a computational PhD. Phage, computational structural biology, functional predictions and all the good stuff. Co supervised by yours truly and @gem__atkinson. Feel free to reach out for more info
We are looking for a new PhD student to join us on our adventures in computational sequence and structural analyses of bacteriophage proteins atkinson-lab.com/phd-position-a… You will be part of the new and exciting @scilifelab DDLS research school
This has to be one of the coolest things I have read in a loooooong time! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
A chapter on phage therapy medicinal products (5.31) will be added to the European Pharmacopoeia! This is not surprising though, given the strong and growing interest in #phage therapy by researchers and policy makers in light of the worsening #AMR crisis edqm.eu/en/-/new-gener…
Absolutely mind blowing paper, makes you wonder what’s really going on inside a bacterial cell
Just missing April fool's, here is something that is no laughing matter: nature.com/articles/s4156… In @NatureMicrobiol, we describe how a prophage avoids autoimmunity from its own defence systems
New preprint from the lab, led by outstanding student Claire Kokontis! (@CKokontis) In this work Claire et al. discover Imp1-Imp6, phage proteins required for the selective import of proteins into the jumbo phage nucleus! Imp1 (below) is the special one. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
DIP-MS from @IMSB_ETH (@FabianFrommelt, @anfossati, @MGstaiger) combines affinity purification with native BN-PAGE fractionation and mass spectrometry to resolve protein complexes sharing the same target protein for deep interactome profiling. nature.com/articles/s4159…
In this work Deepto teamed up again with @anfossati (new PI!) and @dlswaney to pull down on those injected proteins and query the surroundings. A key control was to query injected protein vs. the same one expressed in the cytoplasm. Clearly different compartment interactomes.
Conservation and similarity of bacterial and eukaryotic innate immunity rdcu.be/dzS7a @aaronwhiteley and @hannahledvina review the similarities between eukaryotic and bacterial innate immunity, exploring conserved components, signalling and restriction mechanisms.
"Little pigeons can carry great messages🕊️" Phages produce NAD+ by one-step reactions from nicotinamide (all other organisms need at least two) and protect themselves against multiple bacterial immune systems. Check out our new preprint - biorxiv.org/content/10.110… A thread below⬇️
We are recruiting a postdoc to join our lab at Karolinska Institutet. The project is multidisciplinary and will apply proteomics and cell biology to study the impact of microbiome-derived metabolites in colon cancer. Read and apply here: ki.varbi.com/en/what:job/jo… Please share
