Lastly, and this is definitely the icing on the cake -- we found a gene regulatory mechanism that can likely explain all of this. Mutants for this mechanism show *zero* epigenetic aging, as well as no increase in TE transcripts in older tissues
Hey @AltaSkiArea you guys are the best for allowing uphill traffic

And a big shout-out to @leashbio @allmeasures @Andrewdblevins for their trust and patience! With 100M+ rows and 120GB+, their awesome BELKA dataset was the perfect resource to test our assumptions and implementation. Check it out on Polaris: polarishub.io/datasets/leash…
BELKA, a massive public molecule-protein interaction dataset created by @leashbio, is now available on Polaris! Access it with just a few lines of code: polarishub.io/datasets/leash… BELKA contains 100M molecules screened against 3 protein targets. If you didn’t get to participate in…
We just released 4.25B small molecule-protein measurements - real, physical ones from our lab - on @Polaris_HQ. It's the biggest such public collection ever, please use it! leashbio.substack.com/p/belka-unleas…

BREAKING NEWS The 2024 #NobelPrize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun for the discovery of microRNA and its role in post-transcriptional gene regulation.
I have designed and used degenerate primers to clone genes.
it must be truly wild to be a boomer in biology like going from using genetic linkage to map genes to being able to do single cell full transcriptome sequencing across millions of cells in the span of a career is crazyyyyyy
Preprint just dropped!🎙️We discover molecular mechanisms of the excruciatingly painful sting of the Scarlet Velvet Ant (Dasymutilla occidentalis). Title: "Multiple mechanisms of action of an extremely painful venom." 🧵 1/N biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Issue 16 is complete! On the cover: a superimposition of three stages of embryonic mouse lungs (E12 in white, E13 in cyan and E14 in magenta) demonstrating changes that can be observed over a 3-day period. See Research article by Paramore et al. journals.biologists.com/dev/article/15…

Why are so many inherited traits not explained by genome sequence variation? In my PhD work with @wbderry we describe a new mechanism of inheritance in animals that may account for this ‘missing heritability' 🧵nature.com/articles/s4155…
We've started IND-enabling studies on a small molecule corrector for Rho-associated autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa (Rho-adRP). I thought it would be fun to spend some time walking through our approach and why we are excited. Long 🧵1/
Our Kaggle competition got a nice writeup by Derek Lowe. It's true, predicting novel chemical material is hard! science.org/content/blog-p…
These competitions are SUPER important for our industry 🧬 If you're interested in this, ALSO check out: > @Align_Bio's competition > @biomlsociety's competition > Kaggle competition by Leash labs (@allmeasures)
More than 700 designs by 90 amazing protein designers were submitted to our protein design competition! Given this awesome turnout we've decided to increase the number of proteins to be tested in the lab to 200 in order to validate more designs Check out foundry.adaptyvbio.com/egfr_design_co……
Taking a moment to clone the citrate/succinate antiporter into my protein expression vector so we can test if we can select E. coli using citrate in aerobic contions. The lemon in my lemonade cloning. Come clone with me! Thread 1/n #FlowersForEveryone
Our Kaggle competition to predict small molecule binding is over, and nobody was able to generalize into novel chemical space whatsoever. There's a lot of work to do! Blog post: lnkd.in/gW7VNaEa Endpoints: lnkd.in/gUefHgJg
Are AI models actually ready to upend drug R&D today? New results from one contest suggest maybe not. About 2,00 teams competed and struggled to predict if molecules bind to certain proteins. My latest talking to Leash Bio CEO @allmeasures: endpts.com/in-a-reality-c…
