Building worker power in New England, New York and Puerto Rico #1u
Members at our Region 9A Summer School alongside @UAW President @ShawnFainUAW send a message of solidarity to @grlpunion, @ujcunion, and @cambaworkersunited on strike! ✊
At the @uawregion9a summer school this weekend, we’re meeting and learning from faculty colleagues in @WOAWUAW, @svafac_uaw and at NYFA and Mt. Sinai.
One of our organizing committee members will be speaking on a panel tomorrow about new organizing, don’t miss out!
Our Summer School kicks off this morning! Thanks to the historic (& newly unionized!) @LGBTCenterNYC for hosting us. 🏳️🌈 Check out how many strikes our region has had since 2023—our members are learning from each other about how to stay strike ready to win record contracts. 💪
CAMBA Legal Services Workers are at the table but management refuses to respond in good faith. Yesterday, I joined @alaa2325 on the picket line in solidarity and to demand their right to: -workload protections -an accurate cost-of-living adjustment -a livable wage floor
We’re humbled and proud to be offering immigrants-rights-related KYR content at Summer School 2025 convened by @UAWRegion9A and are so grateful for all that @UAW does for its members and working people!
This week, Region 9A will kick off our annual Summer School! Members will gather in NYC for two days of political education, cultural programs, panels, forums, workshops, skillshares, & other events that will help build our working class power as a union. region9a.uaw.org/events/Region9…
Sending so much union love and solidarity to @mancillabrando and all our union siblings in @UAWRegion9A!
It’s awesome to see @NOLSW2320 National Joint Council get off to a great start! It’s a real bummer not to be able to be there this year, but it’s been inspiring to follow updates as you chart the next steps for legal services/human services organizing. @UAWRegion9A has your back!
okay, to share more info: columbia is replacing union labor in advance of a possible strike in the fall, and i've been affected by that. i'm sharing a petition that we are asking allies to sign here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI…
Among the 80 students suspended or expelled from Columbia are 5 SWC members, who will soon lose both their jobs and healthcare. Once again, Columbia chooses to support war and Trump admin over its own students and workers. It's up to us, not the bosses, to defend our community.
OFFICIAL CUAD PRESS RELEASE: In a historic first, Columbia has suspended nearly 80 students for participating in a teach-in honoring Basel al-Araj. The announcement comes just ahead of the University's deal with the Trump administration and the Anti-Defamation League.
Joined the picket line at Brooklyn Housing Court this morning with my sisters and brothers from @UAWRegion9A @alaa2325 @clswu2325. These attorneys and paralegals do frontline work protecting my constituents from eviction and deportation. They deserve a living wage!

At our #NOLSW2025NJC, we were inspired and mobilized by @maximillian_alv calling on us to defend the working class and combat fascism not just our workplaces but also in our communities and world. We must enact the final words of Joe Hill, and our theme, “DON’T MOURN, ORGANIZE!”
While many in America are wringing their hands about our current situation, the members and leadership of @UAWRegion9A are setting an example for how to engage with politics for a better future for working people.
UAW Region 9A is setting out a clear message to voters. Will other unions and progressive groups follow? bit.ly/3QEOlGM
Welcome to the @UAW! @UAWRegion9A
🚨BREAKING🚨 WE DID IT!!!!! In a landslide 20-2 vote the legal services dept at @BronxWorks voted YES to unionizing with @alaa2325 @UAW WHEN WE FIGHT WE WIN!!!!!!
The lesson here: organizing wall-to-wall and building sector wide density works! But you have to fight and build solidarity to win big
Management agreed to: ✅ A $68,500 wage floor for non-attorney/social worker staff setting the standard for legal service providers across NYC; ✅ Raises across the board for attorneys and social workers; ✅ Longevity differentials at step 8 and for every year thereafter. (2/3)
We took our rest over the weekend and recovered from a long hot week one on the picket line. Now we’re back at it for week 2, day 5 of our strike. We’re waiting for Management to make movement, but until then, we’ll be moving our feet!
