2024 was a busy year in @UAWRegion9A full of many wins. And we know 2025 is going to bring lots of challenges. Central to all we do will be one thing: recommitting to building worker power. Check out for highlights from 2024 and the struggles ahead in 2025 #StandUpUAW
There’s a lot at stake in 2025 at the bargaining table, in the halls of political power, and out on the streets. Hear from @UAW Region 9A Director @mancillabrando on how we will fight for our future this year. youtube.com/watch?v=20t1PY…
Region 9A Summer School is in the books! Thank you to the 150 UAW members in attendance for spending your Friday and Saturday teaching and learning from each other to build solidarity and power in our union! ✊
Zohran Mamdani is the candidate who speaks out on the issues that matter to UAW members: the cost of living, transportation, childcare, and housing. @UAWRegion9A Director Brandon Mancilla speaks to @MeidasTouch about the reasons UAW members endorsed @ZohranKMamdani for NYC…
Joined the picket line at Brooklyn Housing Court this morning with my sisters and brothers from @UAWRegion9A @alaa2325 @clswu2325. These attorneys and paralegals do frontline work protecting my constituents from eviction and deportation. They deserve a living wage!
Our second workshop session featured Communications for a Powerful Contract Campaign, The Fight Against Free Trade, and Striking to Win. As the USMCA is up for renegotiation in 2026, @UAW is committed to fighting to protect labor rights in Mexico, Canada, and the U.S.
Our first workshops included Building Political Power, Effective Union Meetings, Mobilizing in Manufacturing & Design, & Fighting for Immigrant Justice. Each workshop featured member leaders, including Local 571 strike captains who shared about their recent contract campaign.
Our Summer School kicks off this morning! Thanks to the historic (& newly unionized!) @LGBTCenterNYC for hosting us. 🏳️🌈 Check out how many strikes our region has had since 2023—our members are learning from each other about how to stay strike ready to win record contracts. 💪
This week, Region 9A will kick off our annual Summer School! Members will gather in NYC for two days of political education, cultural programs, panels, forums, workshops, skillshares, & other events that will help build our working class power as a union. region9a.uaw.org/events/Region9…
“Brothers, sisters, siblings, we stand here now on the precipice of oblivion…This isn’t just about fighting for better wages and working conditions…This is about who is willing to fight for life itself?” @maximillian_alv @ @NOLSW2320 national convention therealnews.com/uaw-what-good-…
Another day out on the picket line with @UAW @alaa2325 today at CAMBA Legal 1800 of 2000 workers in @alaa2325 have gotten a TA this week, 200 are still on strike support them on the picket line!
On July 10th, CU sent us a 1 year contract extension crafted to weaken labor power. Our membership caucused and voted to send a counterproposal. CU must address our needs during NY’s affordability crisis, federal threats to international students, and cuts to our jobs.
Welcome to the @UAW! @UAWRegion9A

The tentative agreements keep coming from @alaa2325’s historic strike!
WE HAVE REACHED A TENTATIVE AGREEMENT! After five days on strike, A Better NYLAG Union’s longest ever, and bargaining into the wee hours of the morning today, our Bargaining Committee reached a tentative agreement with NYLAG Management!
I met with Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian student at Columbia University, who was imprisoned for 104 days by the Trump administration for opposing Netanyahu’s illegal & horrific war in Gaza. Outrageous. We must not allow Trump to destroy the First Amendment & freedom to dissent.
NYC's largest union—the mighty @DC37nyc—stood with us in the primary when few thought victory was possible. Now they're all in for the general election. Together, we'll deliver a city where the people who keep it running can afford it too. From last week's endorsement:
It’s awesome to see @NOLSW2320 National Joint Council get off to a great start! It’s a real bummer not to be able to be there this year, but it’s been inspiring to follow updates as you chart the next steps for legal services/human services organizing. @UAWRegion9A has your back!
At our #NOLSW2025NJC, we were inspired and mobilized by @maximillian_alv calling on us to defend the working class and combat fascism not just our workplaces but also in our communities and world. We must enact the final words of Joe Hill, and our theme, “DON’T MOURN, ORGANIZE!”
The lesson here: organizing wall-to-wall and building sector wide density works! But you have to fight and build solidarity to win big
Management agreed to: ✅ A $68,500 wage floor for non-attorney/social worker staff setting the standard for legal service providers across NYC; ✅ Raises across the board for attorneys and social workers; ✅ Longevity differentials at step 8 and for every year thereafter. (2/3)
A huge victory that is the result of solidarity & resolve of the membership! The first strike of wall to wall staff at a criminal defense provider since 1994. Now we work to make sure this momentum leads to agreements where we’re already on strike and where we face deadlines ⏰
Today, after the first strike of a criminal defense provider in New York City since 1994, BxD Union’s Collective Bargaining Committee reached a tentative agreement with Management. (1/3)
In a nice moment: Zohran Mamdani brings up a legal services worker fighting for more resources to point out her sign: "my clients deserve a lawyer who can afford rent."
🧵On Tuesday, legal services workers with @alaa2325 rallied in solidarity with striking members to demand the funding, staffing, and support they need to continue delivering justice for low-income New Yorkers.
It’s time to Stand Up for @BronxDefenders @alaa2325 & @UAW! A cornerstone of our justice system is fighting not just for themselves but for all of us. Show them the support they would show you!
hey @BronxDefenders “our dignity and humanity are worth fighting for” too! Fight for BxD Union members like we fight for clients and community!
“Working people deserve lawyers who can afford to pay their rent." - @UAWRegion9A Director Brandon Mancilla Over 750 legal services workers with UAW @ALAA2325 are on strike in NYC to demand the funding, staffing, and support they need to deliver justice for low-income New…
