I did an interesting search and found all the SSWs from 1958 to today (excluding only the FW). With many correlations to QBO, ENSO and MJO phase! @PvForecast @judah47 docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…

That's an impressive pool of cool air in Northern Canada for late July! It's heading for the Eastern US for end of the week. Hopefully it hangs around until I return to Boston Aug 6. I have been enjoying the pleasant temps in Europe, heat & humidity would be a shock to the system
A cold wave to end July and continue into early August. Severe weather outbreaks for the Balkans and Adriatic region through Sunday and Monday: severe-weather.eu/global-weather…
BREAKING: Sirnak Silopi in Turkey has set a new temperature record after recording 50.0ºC this afternoon. This is an extreme level of heat.
It's been a while coming but we're seeing the most sustained +ve AAM tendency push of the summer, should in theory favour a more sustained extension of the Azores high into early August, good to see modelling beginning to switch to that scenario now that increased westerly…

More oppressive weather on the way this weekend and beyond. A huge and very strong heat dome building across Florida, the Southeast US and nation’s middle by early week. Heat index numbers to 110+ here in FL. @WFLA
Next week with a strong negative temperature anomaly, up to 6°C below average, crazy for July!

The first Fall/Autumn 2025 forecasts indicate a major seasonal weather pattern reversal ahead of Winter over North America, as a weak La Niña emerges in the Pacific. At the same time, Europe shows a more stable seasonal pattern. severe-weather.eu/long-range-2/f…
This is astonishing. Global sea surface temperatures are once again pushing close to record breaking temperatures despite the lack of El Nino. This is largely driven by a very, very warm seas in the Pacific & around northwest Europe.
Wow! An incredible shot of this shelf cloud rolling in over Misquamicut Beach, looking toward the storm in Connecticut.
Tracking mid-high latitude marine heatwaves: 2023-2025 have all seen >3°C SST anomalies briefly covering over 4% of N Hemisphere oceans in summer (not observed in 1981-2022). This year's "heatwave" emerged earlier than 2023 and 2024. Where to from here?
