Have Blue Labour checked in with the UN recently?
A 2016 UN report found that Tory welfare cuts have resulted in “grave and systematic violations” of the human rights of disabled people. A national scandal that should’ve been a wake-up call, but 2 years later the Government has learned no lessons. independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…
Because it sees it as its job to morally correct us and stop our disabled behaviour
They must get their brains wiped and reprogrammed as soon as they take office. Only thing I can think of why they changed tune so fast
One of the very predictable outcomes of Labour’s proscription of Palestine Action & the abuse of anti-terrorist legislation was that the police would fail to grasp the difference between, say, holding a Palestine flag, or signs saying “Israel is committing genocide” … 1/8
Some people wrongly called terrorists by British Government:- 1. Mahatma Gandhi 2. Nelson Mandela 3. Palestine Action
The logical endpoint of @Keir_Starmer’s deep commitment to supporting Israeli genocide is where we are now, with génocidaires from the IDF and Israeli government welcomed and fêted, whilst peace-loving grannies are arrested as “terrorists.” The shame of this will live in infamy.
"Many of them.. with hand written placards, you can see one of the police officers holding one, it says 'I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action" As @NickJBBC reports we watch two brave Met police officers leading one of the dangerous protesters away.
I'm trying not laugh " Scissor sisters" its a very serious point you make
If you flood the labor market - supply side economics - you end up with a huge, desperate reserve army of labor. You know what happens then? It lowers the value of labor, driving wages down further.
I can't help wondering how Kendall's special plan to flood the Labor market with disabled people is going to pan out....
At 10.15 today @LBC James O'Brien said that @HackneyAbbott is either stupid or a liar. That, tells you everything. Solidarity to #DianeAbbott the most abused MP on the planet.
This is the clip of my interview.
oh this didn’t age well
Today marks the beginning of #DisabilityHistoryMonth. Labour will always treat disabled people with dignity and respect. We will break down barriers at work, tackle anti-disability hate crime and work with disabled people to develop policy rather than ignoring them.
My support and solidarity to Labour colleagues & friends who have been suspended or stripped of roles over the past few days. Standing up for constituents, voting against harmful cuts & fighting for marginalised people should not be grounds for punishment. Incredibly concerning.
New from me - Labour is gutting "substantial risk" for new UC claimants - the legal safeguard protecting suicidal & vulnerable disabled people from DWP pressure. This is life-and-death so please write to Lords for Tuesday & have it centred in Timms review tinyurl.com/4h8fazur
4) Operant conditioning aside, this is yet another cruel State experiment that will push many thousands more disabled people into absolute poverty, premature deaths, serious harms and suicides. Labour knows this, too, after witnessing 14 yrs of Tory cuts to disability support.
3) The OBR is also skeptical about the reasoning that cuts influence 'behavioural change'- a claim made by pseudo-psychologist Keir Starmer & others. Illness & disability are not 'faulty behaviours' and won't magically vanish with the application of a financial punishment.
2) The OBR has also indicated that the impact of such cuts is uncertain and that previous reforms have often yielded lower savings than initially projected, according to Citizens Advice.
1) The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) has stated that cuts to disability support, specifically Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and the health element of Universal Credit, are not definitively necessary, yet the government is going ahead with them.
Just out of curiosity, how many disabled people are employed by Labour?
I get that charities can provide emotional support. And some of them give practical support. But I want my expert medical advice to come from my doctor. And I expect the govt to ensure the NHS has enough funding for there to *be* expert doctors in my condition(s).
Patients will be connected to specialist charities as soon as they've been diagnosed with a long-term health condition, starting next year. This new service means expert advice, emotional support and practical help from day one, alongside NHS care. More: gov.uk/government/new…
