The land it is the landlord's, the trader's is the sea, the ore the usurer's coffer fills, but what remains for me? Not all clips are endorsements.
Lammy "The grotesque spectacle of kids holding out their hand for food & being shot" Are you imposing sanctions on Israel? No Are you halting all arms sales? No Are you stopping all trade? No Are you ending all military assistance? No Are you expelling the Israeli ambassador? No
Asked about arms exports to Israel, Lammy avoids talking about F-35 parts & instead claims the exports include equipment used by journalists & no one would expect him to suspend that Which journalists in Gaza are using kit exported from the UK under an arms license, David?
"Do you think genocide might have been committed?" Lammy: "... it will be for the ICJ to make a determination" The ICJ has already ruled there is a plausible risk, & that means the obligation to prevent genocide (under the genocide convention) kicks in. So what have you done?
David Lammy says it would be wholly inappropriate for the British public to know if US nuclear weapons are now stationed on UK soil.
One from the archives. David Lammy has no problem condemning Russian war crimes but he refuses to do the same for Israel.
The govt has signed a stern letter condemning whats happening in Gaza Its empty words designed to provide cover for the govts continued support for genocide. What we need is an end to all arms exports, an end to all trade, imposing sanctions, expelling the Israeli ambassador etc
"What we're seeing now is the most horrific stage of Israels starvation campaign... Israel has been using aid as a way to bait civilians & has been killing civilians who have been seeking aid..." Michael Fakhri, UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food
Kit Malthouse to Lammy "can he not see his inaction & cowardice is making this country irrelevant? Can he also not see the personal risk to him, given our intl obligations, that he may end up at the Hague because of his inaction?" Lammy tells Malthouse his language is unbecoming
Kevin Maguire "Are you really blaming what Israel is now doing, killing Palestinians in huge numbers, on Hamas? Are you really doing that?" Michael Gove: "Yes" Gove isn't just an apologist for genocide. He's cheering it on #GMB
.@PippaCrerar: "[Lammy] talked a bit about.. some of the proposals that have been made by some in the Israeli govt as being potential breaches of intl law. As Dam says, they're sailing pretty close to the wind now" Concentration camps = sailing pretty close to the wind.
Adam Boulton: "International statesmen from these 24 countries are getting closer to saying Israel is using starvation as a weapon of war" The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu for using starvation as a weapon of war 8 months ago.
Rachael Cummings from @save_children: "The situation is absolutely desperate.. this is the worst its ever been.. there is not enough food.. the water is dirty.. there is open sewage in the streets.. there is nowhere safe.. the overcrowding is extreme.. people are exhausted"
Remarkable that one of the strongest voices against the UK’s complicity is a Conservative. And he has the politics right: only the Labour back benches can change UK policy. We need a campaign to target *every* Labour MP to get a change, and soon.
Kit Malthouse to Lammy "can he not see his inaction & cowardice is making this country irrelevant? Can he also not see the personal risk to him, given our intl obligations, that he may end up at the Hague because of his inaction?" Lammy tells Malthouse his language is unbecoming
"Reform UK leader Nigel Farage will give a speech later.. promising to abolish inheritance tax if he gets into power" Inheritance tax is paid by the richest 4% of estates Farage & Reform: tax cuts for the wealthiest #GMB
David Lammy: "There can be no justification for shooting people as they are queuing for food. None whatsoever"
Asked by @johnmcdonnellMP if the UK govt accepts there is a plausible risk of genocide, Lammy says thats up to the intl courts The ICJ has made that ruling & it means the obligation to prevent genocide (under the genocide convention) has kicked in. So what have you done, David?
