Dad, husband, teacher. Welsh Labour MP for Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr. Any casework or questions please email me directly at [email protected]
I have written a letter to the Foreign Secretary and Business Secretary, supported by @CAATuk and co-signed by 56 MPs/Lords, calling for an arms embargo on Israel and transparency into export controls. We should not arm a state involved in the indiscriminate killing of civilians.

I met with the Minister for Victims to give the campaign to create a separate offence for desecrating a body my backing, reading a statement from my constituent Coral Jones, whose daughter April was murdered in 2012. Grieving families deserve closure and the law needs updating.

My support and solidarity to Labour colleagues & friends who have been suspended or stripped of roles over the past few days. Standing up for constituents, voting against harmful cuts & fighting for marginalised people should not be grounds for punishment. Incredibly concerning.
Earlier this week I sponsored a photo exhibition in Parliament hosted by @savechildrenuk, showcasing work by Palestinian children forcibly displaced from Gaza to Egypt, titled 'Through Their Eyes'. Every child deserves a life free from hunger, fear, and violence.

Thank you to both of my Constituency Labour Party’s and the wonderful members in them. Your support and solidarity shows the very best of our movement 🌹✊🚩
Today the @APPGEducation launched its report into the Loss of the Love of Learning in schools and colleges after taking evidence from primary, secondary, and FE students, as well as teachers and education sector stakeholders. You can read the report here: educationappg.org.uk/wp-content/upl…
It was fantastic to welcome the Swiss Ambassador Markus Leitner to Llanymynech last weekend to watch the Wales v. Netherlands game in The Dolphin, before sending him across the road – and over the border – to watch the England game with @HelenMorganMP. @SwissEmbassyUK

Very pleased that Powys County Council has backed Cllr Gareth Jones’ motion to pause the sale of County Farms until a sound policy is in place. I will continue to oppose the sell-off & stand with tenant farmers & their families to secure a fair, sustainable future for our land.

Keir Starmer promised one of his first acts would be to introduce the Hillsborough Law. He hasn't – so I have. Tomorrow the Government could block this Bill, or get behind it. Sign my petition calling on the Prime Minister to keep his promise: actionnetwork.org/petitions/pass…
I would've voted against the UC & PIP Bill this evening, but was unable to be in Parliament as I was attending the funeral of a very close friend. I remain firmly opposed to this Bill, which will push many disabled constituents into poverty. Full statement below.

I voted against the UC and PIP Bill this evening. I welcome tonight's concessions and want to see the positive elements of the Bill implemented but there was simply too much uncertainty and too little notice. This is not how decisions impacting vulnerable people should be made.

I joined the Labour Party to oppose austerity. I cannot support a bill that could still push 150,000 people into poverty. I will be voting against it tomorrow. @Dis_PPL_Protest
On @BBCRadioWales this morning, I welcomed the government listening to MP's deep concerns about welfare cuts, but said I couldn't support a bill that will now instead treat those who become disabled in the future differently to those already claiming PIP. I will be voting against
The government must abandon plans to cut disability benefits, consult with disabled people, provide transparency on how changes will affect Wales, and make sure any future reforms will actually support disabled people and those with long-term health conditions. @LabourOutlook
"Let me be clear: I will vote against these PIP cuts." @switherdenMP is clear and so should we all be - no to cuts, no to austerity! ✊🚫 Check out the full article here 👇 labouroutlook.org/2025/06/20/hal…
I've signed an amendment to stop the disability benefit cuts, alongside over 120 fellow Labour MPs. Our government shouldn't be pushing people further into poverty. Time to scrap the cuts and drop this Bill.
Full text of amendment 👇🏼
The Government published its UC & PIP Payment Bill today. Wales already has the highest poverty rates among disabled people in the UK - this will push them deeper into hardship. We wrote to the DWP urging the cuts be abandoned. I will be voting against this Bill.

DMA statement on the @DurhamGala and Reform UK. Reform chose to criticise us publicly for not inviting them to the #DurhamMinersGala. They obviously don’t understand how this works, so we will explain... Read more: durhamminers.org/statement_durh…
We need a welfare system that supports, not punishes, people when they need it most. Disability benefit cuts will deepen hardship and inequality across Wales and the UK. I’m voting NO.

🚨NEWS🚨 15 Labour MPs joined us today to take a public stand and say they are voting NO to disability benefit cuts. More need convincing - we don't think any MP could vote for these cuts with a clear conscience. 📷Photo: David Mirzoeff disabilityrightsuk.org/news/labour-mp…
A Labour government should never try to balance the books on the backs of disabled people. My question to the Prime Minister at #PMQs today.
