There's no such thing as a Happy Ending outside of Movies and Massage Parlours
People of England: as your life flashes before you on the grubby floor of a NHS-Sponsored-By-PizzaHut HealthHub, Dave the PA yelling into his phone “Siri, what’s a tracheotomy”, all the while jabbing your neck with a coffee spoon, remember this. We Told You So.
Absolutely This
Paraphrasing Mick Lynch :- doctors are the public, they are just ordinary men and women who want to be paid fairly for their labour.
I’d love to know what your favourite champagne is too Lord Bethell ? @JimBethell Do I need to say more @drchriscarson ?
That's very inspiring, Chris. What sort of champagne is your favourite? Are all doctors entitled to champagne? Are taxpayers's entitled to champagne, or is it just for doctors?
It’s about time that members of the RCP could vote The other proposed changes should probably wait until after the @GoodGovInst review of RCP constitution and governance
Currently, only #RCPfellows are allowed to vote in elections for president, college vice presidents and elected members of Council. We think the #nextgeneration of physicians should have a say in who leads them. After our 2025 AGM, we’ll invite subscribing #RCPfellows in good…
If you are a doctor and are proud to stand behind our chairs @Melissa_S_Ryan and @RossNieuwoudt like and repost this message.
Keir Starmer: Resident doctors should break ranks with the BMA leadership. The industrial action that starts on Friday is in no one’s interests and medics should not follow their union down its dangerous and destructive route, he says. thetimes.com/article/3fdcd5…
TBF, one group or the other was going to reject the findings. Unlike UMAPS, we weren't rubbing our hands with glee at the prospect of the Leng review. That pesky overconfidence permeates all PA thinking doesn't it?
This is classic Megaphone 📣 Diplomacy @wesstreeting How often have you seen that work?
"We did not need to be in this position. These strikes were unnecessary." @WesStreeting explains why 👇 Watch his message to NHS staff continuing to work during strikes.
You can't win this Wes. Resident doctors are striking for pay. They don't care for public support and they don't need it. They also don’t care about the slurs, headlines, the moral outrage, or the knights and Lords wheeled out of retirement to scold them. They want pay and value…
Scottish ‘junior’ Doctors accepted a pay offer 2023 with no strikes ▪️12.4% 2023 ▪️inflation beating pay rises for 3yrs ▪️commitment to full pay restoration ▪️removal from “independent” pay review body The Govt listened & talked to the BMA🤷🏻♂️ Imagine a Govt willing to negotiate
Leng Review found PAs vastly overstimated what they were competent to do, compared to Drs. Why are none of these people speaking up and acknowledging their training enables them to work as an assistant, not to be seeing indifferentiated pts with minimal supervision?
Uniquely among frontline staff, MAPs overestimate their skills and knowledge. The opposite of what is seen in other groups
To be fair Sikora is never knowingly correct about anything September 2020… dailymail.co.uk/debate/article…
theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/j… I am dumbfounded. What was this lunatic thinking? Who would do that to themselves?🤯
I very genuinely believe the real purpose of rotational training and linked reforms (abolition of firms, portfolio assessment) was, & remains, to disrupt the identity, traditions, hierarchy, & power base of the medical profession. It has been successful. We are 20 years too late.
This the most damning piece of evidence of deliberate substitution of doctors with medically unqualified personnel I have seen so far. Explicitly, people went to erode standards of medical care in the NHS.
It's clear that @NHSE_WTE (formally HEE) now do not think that PAs should substitute for Doctors But that wasn't always the case In a document published by HEE titled "Broadening the foundation Programme" the words substitute/substitution are used 30 times Let's dive in 1/n
