Urbanist with a soft spot for legacy cities, maps, and housing. OCD survivor.
the basic problem with this analysis of “even in Copenhagen people move to the suburbs when they have kids!” is that Copenhagen *suburbs* are significantly denser than most American *cities*
One of the tweets I got dragged for the most was when I tweeted that "dense walkability" was code for "we don't want you to have kids" but I was, of course, totally correct. (Both @mattyglesias and @Noahpinion had meltdowns.) Apartments are antinatal: ifstudies.org/blog/more-crow…
Second, Thomas was apparently telling her teammates that she is attracted to women and creeping them out. So you have this person who has only transitioned less than 2 years ago, is showing unconsenting women her penis, and is telling them about her attractions to women. A creep.
We would be in a much better place if liberals reacted to hard leftists the way those leftists react to liberals
The thing conservatives are most correct about is that mainstream liberals have a baffling tendency to be soft on the kind of hard leftists who quite openly admit that they want to kill liberals.

A story as old as time… 1st wave gentrifiers complaining about second wave gentrification lmaooo
The day after October 7, the largest and most active student organization in my law school put out a statement in explicit support of Hamas. They went on to spearhead the local student protest movement. I will never, ever let them whitewash that.
The student protesters were obviously correct on Gaza. The reaction to them was obviously idiotic and depraved. We're probably still a while out from this being banal conventional wisdom, but it's coming.
The Left vastly overestimates its reach.
The way that Teachout's terrible NYT op-ed was aggressively mocked, the disappearance of MMT, the YIMBY's understanding deeply the costs of regulation, tariffs losing all support on the left... It feels to me neoliberalism is gaining steam on the left
To be clear, loan forgiveness will never happen again because Biden took a significant political hit for doing it, and then the beneficiaries didn't just not vote for him - they actively campaigned against him because they are the dumbest, vainest mfers that ever lived.
My daughter will get screwed. I am not sure how young people are supposed to afford these higher loan payments. This is gonna be a big issue come 2028. Loan Forgiveness is not happening ever again, so don’t even mention it.
I recall getting yelled at in the Jezebel comments section in like 2014 bc I said it’s not bad for a man to come onto a woman if he respects a “no.” We existed back then and people told us to shut up!
Matt Walsh is getting dunked by Sohrab Ahmari for faux macho moralizing about home decor.

Effective today, I have resigned from the Advisory Board of UATX. While I believe very much in the importance of competition and innovation in higher education, and see major problems with the lack of diverse perspective in elite institutions, I am not comfortable with the course…
This is a great opportunity to point out a substantial population of very-online-activist youth have been fully brainwashed by Iranian, Russian, and Chinese propaganda; that they are cognitively incapable of realizing they've been brainwashed; and so we have a very big problem.
Calla Walsh message form the IRGC Aerospace Park in Tehran today. 2/2
Despite a recent $750k taxpayer subsidy, the shelves at Kansas City's government-run grocery store are "almost bare." It also lost $885k last year and is, unsurprisingly, hemorrhaging customers.
The fucking nerve to say this to anyone who lived through 2016. You gaslighting sack of shit.
New piece about the failure of so many centrist Dems to rally around Zohran, illustrating an underrecognized dynamic in Dem politics: It's actually the party’s centrist establishment, not its progressive wing, that’s most likely to violate the maxim of “Vote Blue No Matter Who.”
Fourth, multiple swimmers raised the discomfort with changing around Thomas on multiple occasions. Now here we have to read between the lines a bit, but this STRONGLY suggests inappropriate conduct by Thomas. At the very least, probably exhibitionism or voyeurism.
Pull quote from the January 2022 story from a teammate: "“It’s really upsetting because Lia doesn’t seem to care how it makes anyone else feel." This is an athlete saying this to a reporter about HER TEAMMATE. Do you understand how rare that is?
Occam's Razor says the teammates aren't all a bunch of liars-- rather Thomas was acting inappropriately. Later of course three of her teammates put their names on acomplaint against Thomas alleging, inter alia, invasion of their privacy. thedp.com/article/2025/0…
Bear in mind, I have been around trans people many times and not once did anyone do something that made me uncomfortable. And the vast majority of even trans girl athletes draw no specific complaints of inappropriate conduct. But MULTIPLE teammates, MULTIPLE times, complained.
