Thrilled to be elected onto the @scotsyounglab committee as Under 18s Officer! Thank you to everyone who voted for me and trusted me with this position, I really appreciate it. Congrats to my fellow new committee members, I can't wait to get started! 🌹🌹
A hot take proposal for Local Gov in England: - Adopt the Redcliffe-Maud boundaries - Transfer social/adult care responsibilities to the central gov - Replace Council Tax with a property tax and local income tax - Give them control over local police, fire, and education
🚨🗳️ | New Guidance in the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill confirms that Mayoral and PCC elections will return to the Supplementary Vote system.
We are lending Britain an iconic jewel of our shared history: the Bayeux Tapestry. This is the first time this national treasure will leave French soil. It marks an unprecedented cultural partnership between our two countries — a powerful symbol of our Entente amicale.
No Alex, they go and they deliver for the Scottish people, with pace and direction. Something your party has rather failed to do of late… x.com/scottishlabour…
"Scottish" Labour MPs who go down south and use Westminster as a podium to bash their own homeland are the worst of the worst. It is beyond me that someone could loathe their own nation the way they do.
The trade union movement fights for people to have more power where we work. The co-operative movement fights for us to have more power where we live.
Raining? We do doors. Sunny? We do doors. Marking one year of a Labour government? We do doors. Thanks to these @ScottishLabour stars for their efforts today.
Great article from @siennamarla in @TheHouseMag on how to modernise parliament but there's a point made I have to give a campaigners context to. The dreaded policy email - sometimes referred to as clicktivism. So why do campaign organisations use this tactic? 🧵 1/10

Sarah Boyack has been a towering figure in Edinburgh and Scottish politics for decades. She has led the way in Scottish Labour on the environment and the climate emergency since long before it was at the top of the political agenda.

I am deeply saddened at the passing of my friend Peter Krykant. I don’t think Peter often realised the impact he had, but his work did save lives - I saw it with my own eyes. May he rest in peace.

Great to be out with @ScotsYoungLab members in Hamilton today! The SNP are failing young people across Scotland, and a vote for @DavyRussell4HLS sends them a message that it’s time for a #NewDirection!
Less than 10% of '24 Labour voters are switching to Reform. Given Starmer's recent pivot on rhetoric, you'd think it was much higher. Out Reforming Reform is a weak strategy and will lead to a hemorrhaging of left leaning voters (as seen below). Looks like a weak strategy.
We've done some analysis on where 2024 voters are going. A picture paints a thousand words, so here you are! #Conservatives #Labour #Reform

Yesterday, Dame Esther Rantzen wrote to all MPs, accusing those of us with concerns about the Assisted Dying Bill as having "undeclared religious beliefs". Many of us found this distasteful and disrespectful.
Something oddly charming about how frequently people at the heart of the Labour government go 'no, you see, we are actually channelling the Wilson government'. It wasn't a successful government! ft.com/content/778f32…
A fantastic piece from @Harry_Ness_ that get's to the heart of the issues facing Scotland's universities. Politicians across the country would be wise to heed his words. Action is needed, the only question is whether it will happen now or once universities go under.

I got the argument for cutting ODA for an emergency cash injection into defence. I don't get why these lines about the UK being a 'global charity' have been proudly prebriefed. This doesn't feel like global leadership. theguardian.com/politics/2025/…
So, for those killed and those whose voices are silenced: what more evidence do you need? Will you act now – decisively – to prevent genocide in Gaza and to ensure respect for international humanitarian law? This Council must prevail. Demand this ends.
