Informative thread.
As a longtime humanitarian who has battled famines and hunger crises, I fear that starvation in Gaza has now passed the tipping point and we are going to see mass-scale starvation mortality. A thread on famine momentum, famine response, and what it means for Gaza today.
Hey, @grok, who was the most famous person to visit my profile? It doesn't need to be a mutual, don't tag them, just say who it was.
Delighted to see this - I think there will be many more to come.
Delighted that @GlasgowCC’s hugely popular On Street Cycle Storage programme is continuing to expand, with an additional 720 spaces being provided this year. glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/25342253.…
Everyone remembers Janey's contribution but let us not forget this other classic Scottish Trump moment. It was when he was testifying to the Scottish Parliament in 2012 to complain about ... windmills.

Donald Trump not getting over the windmill thing then. Lol.
This kind of thing is not only absurd, it is anti democratic. And of course these kinds of arguments rest on the continuation of Westminster's dysfunctional FPTP system.
Corbyn’s new party is designed to put Farage into No10 - it's a carbon copy of what German communists did when they let Hitler take power without a fight ... and the replies to this article are QED... thenewworld.co.uk/paul-mason-cor…
Just landed in Heathrow Airport T3. Went into M&S. Three staff working. I said to them “NICE TO SEE YOU, TO SEE YOU”. None of them responded with "NICE". I have a voice recording & their names to report to M&S. We must confront them every time.
People in the replies saying this helps Hamas. No. What helps Hamas is depriving Palestinians of all hope of a better future. Their present couldn't be much worse.
221 MPs, from 9 parties, have sent a joint letter to the Prime Minister & Foreign Secretary urging them to recognise Palestine as a state now
If this isn't an omen I don't know what would be.
Deer hit by police car at Trump golf course dies ahead of president's Glasgow Prestwick arrival glasgowlive.co.uk/news/glasgow-n…
A lot of ppl think no-one flies in & out of Prestwick Airport except the CIA but they are very wrong. Ryanair basically run the place now with flights to Spain every day. So no-one on Trump's flight better be carrying a handbag or laptop bag bigger than 40x20x25cm or big trouble.
I feel no resentment towards Mhairi Black for leaving the SNP. I suspect she maybe had a rather harder time as an MP than she ever let on, and perhaps she just wants a completely different kind of life now. That's fair enough. Good luck to her.
The U.K. should follow the example of France tonight and recognise the State of Palestine. This is essential for peace. The ceasefire and humanitarian aid must start now.
I welcome the announcement by President Macron that 🇫🇷 will recognise 🇵🇸 in September. This is an important contribution towards implementing the two State solution, which offers the only lasting basis for peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians alike.
The last thread I RTd explains, I think, the recent rhetorical shift from western leaders on Gaza. They must have been advised that starvation on a massive scale is imminent, with a vanishingly small window of time left to prevent it. All possible measures must be considered now.
Good - UK next please.
Hamas want a permanent ceasefire, to be able to transition to new Gaza leadership on their own terms. Israel want to be able to go back to destroying Hamas after getting the hostages back. The same impasse as ever, so the killing and starvation goes on because the Americans…
We have decided to bring our team home from Doha for consultations after the latest response from Hamas, which clearly shows a lack of desire to reach a ceasefire in Gaza. While the mediators have made a great effort, Hamas does not appear to be coordinated or acting in good…
This needs urgent action. Sanctions, trade as well as arms embargos, expelling diplomats, it should all be on the table or the Israeli gov will carry on regardless. They have no reason to take angry words without accompanying action seriously.
The suffering and starvation unfolding in Gaza is unspeakable and indefensible.
