This useful chart shows that our energy problems set in 20 years ago. Having spent a few days conversing with members of the green energy sector I now see that most of them don’t think we had an energy problem until 2022. That’s why they blame it all on gas and marginal pricing.

I am afraid we need to abandon the sort of thinking set out in this @ConHome piece. The Conservative Party needs to be the party of free markets, not of promoting favoured groups. The party of making it as easy as possible for *anyone* to start a business and make money.

Germany also has significant shale gas deposits. But Merkel, like the UK, banned it. German shale is a lot cheaper than US LNG and more secure than Russian gas! Germany should frack and go for nuclear!

We already have plenty of hospitality zones. Unfortunately they are being crippled by taxes - National Insurance, business rates, VAT, alcohol duty etc. These headlines from govt are displacement activity while they annihilate the hospitality business with costs.
