In just the last day, Colbert was cancelled, PBS and NPR were defunded, and Trump threatened to sue even conservative outlets like the Wall Street Journal and NewsCorp over revelations related to Epstein. It sure looks like an open attempt at authoritarian control of the media.
RETWEET if you stand with Stephen Colbert against Donald Trump and CBS!
I finally have some mitochondria earrings in stock. Three different wood types for now: padauk, cherry and maple. Link in comments. #mito

This is chilling to watch and utterly unacceptable in the United States of America. As a former Senator, I’m calling on all current members to speak out on behalf of Sen. Padilla and defend him and the Senate against these outrageous attacks. Stop this blatant violation of…
Senator Padilla’s office sends me this video of his take-down and detention at Sec. Noem’s press conference in L.A.
Canada needs a Minister with Research in their title. Sectors like aviation, automotive and natural resources are building blocks of Canada that improve economic growth. Science is also fundamental to economic growth, building the future, and has never been more important.
I don’t know what the future will look like any more than anyone else but I do have one hope. I hope people retain their willingness to do hard things and the attention span to do them. Solving hard problems takes seriousness, focus, humility, resilience, vigilance — and…

When two of the same experiment get different results in different hands, that often means some critical variable wasn’t controlled for when repeated and we have an incomplete understanding of important factors at play. As we gain understanding, these results can become less…
There is an extraordinary "reproducibility crisis" in the sciences, particularly in biology, where most published papers fail to replicate. Most universities have massive bureaucracies that inhibit the translation of basic research into commercial adoption. The voting…
Journalists sure are spending a lot of time reporting about “Biden’s decline” but no one’s reporting on the actual president who can’t even string a coherent sentence together while he’s threatening democracy, aligning with dictators and lining his pockets with billions of your $
Americans convicted of a criminal offense are not allowed into Canada. Yet, the President of the US, who was convicted of 34 criminal felonies is? Explain why he should be treated differently and be allowed to attend the G7 in Kananskis in June? I'm asking you @MarkJCarney
Mr Chase makes a serious point. A massive investment in the higher education sector by Canada could be a game changer. The EU has signalled such a move, but Canada would be a logical place to make a difference.
Harvard should move to Canada. Trump Administration Halts Harvard’s Ability to Enroll International Students nytimes.com/2025/05/22/us/…
Time for Canada to do the same. Attract the best talent - including bringing Canadians at top US universities home.
In response to Trump’s cuts to science research funding and attacks on universities, the EU is investing over $500 million to recruit researchers and scientists from the U.S.
I worked in ICU during the pandemic and lost count of the preventable deaths I witnessed. Now measles, which could have been eradicated by now, is back, and a return of polio quite possible. Vaccines work. Vaccine hesitancy kills. Please get vaccinated. cbc.ca/?__vfz=medium%…
Just got news that all of my NIH and NSF grants were officially terminated today. Have been expecting this for some time, so it's not surprising, but still jarring to see the news. Have heard similar news from dozens of colleagues. Will be hard, but we'll find a way forward.
My partner Serena’s mom is dying from ALS. The NIH grant supporting the scientists in my lab working hard on a cure was just terminated. No words
